As far as I know, there haven't been any new ones written for quite a while. They just seem to cover old ones.
I like The Pogues, but tha's just me

Washington Square by Chris Isaak is a great christmas song from a few years ago that I think slipped past most people's radar.

Not for me - I don't listen to pop radio.

Thanks, that's nice. And you're right, had never heard it before.

The next three weeks?

They've been played to death for the past three weeks too.

(I also don't listen to pop radio, but always overhear what my OH has on the radio in another room).

Who'd have thought we'd consider them classics decades later during the x-factor years.

Still waiting to hear The Pogues. Then xmas can officially start.

Yes I see what the OP means now. I thought he was talking about the radio. I actually had to walk out of a card shop last week cos they had some Mariah Carey cacophony on and I simply couldn't stand it. The others, I'm not too worried about.

I prefer the Phil Spector Christmas album, myself.

(And Greg Lake's 'I Believe In Father Christmas').

I can't believe I've made it to the 6th December with only hearing Last Christmas by Wham once and neither The Pogues, Mariah Carey or Slade, etc. at all. It's a miracle!

That Pogues one is the most annoying one because at least the other Christmas songs (Wham, Wizzard, Slade) "know" that they're novelty and fun but "Fairytale of New York" is so earnest. I'd rather here slightly rarer ones like "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" (Belinda Carlisle), "Frosty the Snowman (Fiona Apple), "Jingle Bells" (Skid Row) and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings" (Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan). The Phil Spector Christmas Album is great.

Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas gets me in the mood but it has to be the original version, can't be doing with Band Aid II and the pile of rubbish that Band Aid 20 was

I agree. I went to the supermarket earlier on this evening and was walking around with my iPod in to drown the music out I've been trying to avoid Christmas songs until after my exam's over as having them stuck in your head while trying to study is not good

Snowed In by Hanson is a great Christmas album. Mostly covers but a few originals too. They've also just recorded a new Christmas song but its only available as part of a Xmas bundle on their website.
