Well for the past 3 years you've been hearing lady gaga, Katy perry and Rihanna releasing new music!!! Now come 2012, gaga is going on tour which will last a couple years and may release an album next year in the middle of the year!! Katy will take a break from music and will try and start a family!! Rihanna will release singles from her recently released album next year!!

So it'll be just Rihanna releasing something new!! What to expect for 2012!! Just Madonna but who else???

I kinda like that the three big names are kinda taking a back seat next year (I know Rihanna has just realeased a new album but i really dont think she will dominate like she did this year)

The people i HOPE that will own 2012 are

JoJo
Leona
Robin Thicke
J.Cole (his album has already been released but hes done A LOT of uk promo this past month to build his profile)
Dot Rotten
And im hopinh Kendrick Lamar brings out a new ep or something.

Those are regarding artists i know. Im looking forward to hear some new stuff from newcomers

Personally I'm looking forward to hearing more music from a few artists in 2012, in particular

- Let's Buy Happiness
- Whales in Cubicles
- Keaton Henson

Of course I doubt if any of the above will set the charts alight, but that doesnt really matter to me.

Never heard of any of 'em,other than Leona Lewis (I'm assuming that's who you mean)?

Lana Del Rey will be the new artist of the year i believe....i feel excited for Emile Sande too and also Delilah.

MADONNA is gonna rock 2012! Her new album she has teamed back up with Orbit and also new collaborations with Benny Bennasi, Martin SOlveig and speculation of new collaborators....also a return of working with Jamie King for intense choreography and also back up vocalists Nikki and Donna De Lory will be back on record too. Cannot wait for this album in my life an to see her on tour!

Also Christina Aguilera has had a load of speculation about what direction she will travel in. She is working with Madonna collaborater William Orbit too on a couple sonvs i have read. Also she will be working with Sia and Linda Perry again i think as well as DJ Premier, Stargate and many more i think....should be a sweet return

P!nk i have read may be planning a return next year...presumably for the winter to give ehr a load of time to record through 2012 until the end of the year....she will have a lot to talk about most definitely.

Kylie Minogue will have an acoustic hits collection next year at some point which should be very lovely for her 25th anniversary.

No Doubt will be back also....eventually. They have been so very busy in the studio over the past two years so i am really excited to hear Gwen Stefanis vocals again...such an underrated icon.

Fleetwood Mac are said to be uniting for new material and performances next year too so i am stoked for that with Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham and co. Uniting for some killer material methinks.

Thats my personal excitements and what i am looking forward to for in music for 2012!

Woohoo, I didn't hear that but if it's true I can't wait for that. The rest I don't care about, not my thing.

Paul McCartney's releasing an album in February of little-known 30s and 40s covers and some new songs, and he might be releasing a new rock album later in the year.

2012 will be the year of generic artist. However generic artist will make an impression and you can't forget to count generic artist.

It will be interesting to see how generic artist and generic artist's new single will fare. Will generic artist release anything?

And of course they'll be a Cowell puppet releasing something as well.

2011 (along with 2009) has probably been the most "generic" year for music of all-time (well, at least in the 90's and 00's, I wasn't alive before then, but I doubt it was more generic in the 70's, 80's, etc. than it is now) admittedly.

However, I do think 2012 will improve. People are honestly getting fed up of the generic songs now.

I kinda like that the three big names are kinda taking a back seat next year (I know Rihanna has just realeased a new album but i really dont think she will dominate like she did this year)

I definitely hope it's a big year for J Cole, Dot Rotten and Kendrick Lamar. And as I was saying above, the public are getting tired of the generic songs I think, so it would be a fantastic time for artists like those to swoop in. Kendrick has a song with Dr. Dre and The Game coming out soon, which I could see being a top 40 hit, if it's released on a Sunday.

so it looks like the current artists (katy perry, rihanna and lady gaga) are gonna like tone it down a bit maybe not rihanna cause of her new album thats out and will be releasing singles. maybe the current trend is coming down to an end and maybe going back to some of the last decade artists and sounds (like madonna, gwen stefani, christina aguilera etc)

There will be quite a bit of music relevant to the Olympic Games, including the official song, novelty songs and others with sporting lyrics. I shall refrain from suggesting the first hit for a while from Sporty Spice.
