I think this comeback could go either way, and a lot rests on the strength of the comeback single.

while Gwen has had success since their breakup, her last worldwide smash 'Sweet Escape' was 5 long years ago ( where has the time gone!?) and 5 years is a huge length of time in pop.

there's no reason for gwen stefani to go back to the band she was in because she already achieved solo success and now she's gonna go back. similar to beyonce when she had that massive solo debut she made another album with destiny's child and people were like oh she's a solo superstar now why is she going back to destiny's child? i wonder if people are gonna feel the same with gwen stefani? idk how people felt when fergie went back to the black-eyed peas after her massive solo debut which spawned like 5 big hits for her.

Gwen Stefani doesn't want to be a solo artist though. She has said her life is No Doubt again.

Her solo stuff was good, but nowhere near as good as No Doubt's.

As far as I know, the style of the album will be ska/reggae with pop thrown in. Pretty standard ND, I can't wait!!

I think they'll do well. There's a gap in the music world that they can fill.

No doubt was massive here in So Cal. So very good in concert. Gwen freaking rocks hard and the boys are strong. I think it is really cool that she hasn't ditched them entirely. Lord knows that there is a huge gaping hole in alt rock music calling their name. Hope it works out well for them.

Gwen just tweeted this:

Quote:
“Just took a long drive to oc listening to the 5 song contenders for the first single- what will it be?!! This is getting crazy exciting. Gx”

Mood: Ecstatic!

gwen did well as a solo artist. i didnt even she was with no doubt til i was in high school. her solo stuff came in when i was in middle school. she was relevant during my middle school years.

Her solo work was like a side project to her. Her heart has always been in No Doubt and with good reason, they're a cracking band. All the fans who only discovered her through her solo work obviously don't know what they're missing if they think it's a backward step for her.

She had far more success with No Doubt (Tragic Kingdom is up there with the biggest selling albums of all time - I think) ... She's also stated on a few occasions that she is done with her solo career. Which is fine by me because none of it was half as good as anything ND ever did, that said I do still enjoy her solo music.

I hope they do a UK tour, I was only about 9/10 last time they toured here (2000/2001?) i'd love to go see them live, Gwen has an amazing stage presence.

Completely agree, I did enjoy her solo stuff but her material with No Doubt is in another league.

what a stupid question. We can't answer that since we've not heard the songs yet. Stop playing up the hype factor, it's about the music. Jesus...

Somebody needs to take a chill pill.

Of course it's about the music, i'm not stupid. Excuse me for just being a little bit too excited after waiting over 10 years for a new album from one of my favourite bands
