Yes, we are all young at heart, or we would not be obsessing with this dancing lark.
Poll requested from Mods.

I was tempted to put Under 80, as I am most definitely under 80. And will be for about another 35 years.

Millie, a tribute to your original idea well received by the forum.

Polls also allow the choice of more than one option,
and allow revealing voters' ids
Hello.
07-12-2011
I'm 18, 19 at Christmas.

Have loved the show for the last few years. Only got into it in the last couple of years as I used to find it a bit boring for some reason.

Especially enjoying this year because I've been a fan of McFly since I was 11. Great seeing Harry on the show.

Having only just got used to being 55 and the shock of now being allowed on SAGA holidays - to be forced to face the fact that I am now in the under 60 category for the very first time was almost in heart attack territory for me Thanks

I'd like to express my respect to forumites....and there are a few in their 70's.

It's only occurred to me this year how wonderful that people of any age can come and express an opinion on this forum.

Intergenerational interaction at it's very best.

IMO there's not enough of it

Not to mention intergender, intercontinental, and interesting.

I have never been on a Saga holiday, but when I was a film Extra I was asked to do a photo session advertising them.
I was very flattered when the photographer told me that I looked too young for the ad, I was 66 at the time.

As for the Poll, I am thrilled to be one of the two males under 80.

Wow Walter I can tell you've led an interesting life. How lucky and how marvellous. Yes, I remember you saying you've run marathons

Funnily enough, it became interesting when I got past 50. I did my first and last abseil when I was 52. My first of three parachute jumps when I was 54, and took up running when I was 66. I never thought that by the age of 74 I would have 8 medals and certificates for running Half Marathons and one full Marathon.

Earlier this year the local newspaper did a couple of articles on me with the headlines,

Is This our Town's Fittest Pensioner? and, 74 year old runs Full Marathon instead of Planned Half.

Which I guess proves that there are compensations in every age, if you have your health, and keep positive!

I love you! You're an inspiration. I'm over 30 (all I'm saying ) and want to do a triathlon, but thought I'm getting too old - maybe not, I just have to get my backside in gear.

Thank you so much!

I promise you that there was never anyone more lethargic than me. I always connected exercise with sport, which never interested me. I never realised that it could be so much fun, and I have met so many nice people.

There is no down side, except that if I can't get to the gym I start to get withdrawal symptoms. It is like a drug, it must be all those endorphines pumping through the blood stream to the brain.

Something else I forgot to mention that I have achieved since I got past 50. I learned to swim at 68, it took me 18 months, and now I can't believe that I was ever scared of water.

How lucky you are to be gifted with an iron constitution.
Do you get sport injuries, and how quickly do you heal?

Darcey Bussell retired at age 40 for that reason.
Margot Fonteyn carried on dancing into her sixties out of financial necessity, to pay her paraplegic husband's medical bills.
