Fortunately no, I really am very lucky. A guy at the gym tells me it is probably because I started so late in life. He is in his early 50's, has played sport all of his life, and tells me that he has loads of injuries. All I take daily, is a cod liver oil and glucosimine tablet for my joints. As I go to the gym 5 mornings a week I vary my exercises. This morning I spent an hour on the Cross Trainer, 10 minutes on the rowing machine, and finished off with some light weights and stretches. Tomorrow I will probably do an hour on the treadmill, and I always finish with plenty of stretching, it can be tedious, but it is very important.

It may not sound much fun, but it really is a great way to start the day!

Walter, a career in modeling for senior citizen health adverts awaits you -- but stay away from quickstep and jive.

UK is top-heavy with pensioners supported by diminishing numbers of youngsters. Recession or not, the elderly will need to work for longer. A 100th birthday earns a card from Her Majesty, but this milestone is becoming commonplace now.

I'm with you, I absolutely love exercise, I do spinning 5 times a week, combat twice, zumba twice, visit the gym twice and do weights 4 times a week.

I tell my friends about the buzz I get from exercise, often I'm just laughing and laughing from the endorphins, but they don't believe me.

Well, I did have high hopes when I did the Saga advert, it got a full page in a magazine. I expected to be inundated with offers.
Needless to say I never heard from them again.

I also took up tap dancing five years ago, I must confess that I found it too difficult, I just could not pick it up. I felt so humiliated that I gave it up. I have hung on to my tap shoes, as a reminder of the one thing that defeated me.

This is just one reason why I have such respect for dancers, professional or amateur.

Walter, reading of your exploits I am even more in awe.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us

I have a rule that the older I get, the more I am going to do out of my comfort zone, otherwise your horizons shrink. That would be my advice to anybody.

Yes, I know just what you mean, some mornings it is an effort to drag myself to the gym. Two hours later, I practically skip out of there with all those endorphins pumping through my body, and such a sense of well being.

I sometimes think that us gym freaks must seem terribly smug to those who hate the thought of any sort of exercise.

I'll be 50 next Monday. It didn't bother me much at all... until right now when I suddenly realised in a few days I will be in the "under 60" category. Now I am feeling really old .

On the up side I can still hope that like Walter's, my life will become really interesting now .

I know the males represent a smaller sample (and therefore more prone to statistical error), but I find it quite interesting to compare the male and female age profiles: the females have a smooth peak at 40-49, whereas the males are pretty much the opposite, with a dip at 40-49.

Well, I find it interesting, anyway. Thanks to soulmate61 for an interesting poll!

I feel a bit miffed because I'm in a category by a year! It's making me older than I am & I feel ancient.

The good news is I'm in good company.

Your interest is appreciated. Men are like VintageWine, they improve with age, and see the light of Dance post fortysomething?

Waiting for the eightysomething male, then the set will be complete.

If you can hang on for 5 1/2 years, I will be happy to complete your set!

I love the thought of exercise... it's actually getting off my back side to do it that's the problem

After taking Sir Winston Churchill's photo on his 80th birthday.....

Young photographer : "I look forward to taking another photo on your 90th birthday."

Churchill: "I don't see why not young man, I don't see why not, you look hale and hearty."

Thanks Soulmate for setting up the poll and doing the analysis. Whilst the highest number of women are between the ages of 30-60 which you might find predictable, its interesting that the men are spread much more evenly across the ages, quite a large proportion being under 20.

Maybe blokes have figured out that the best place to "pull the birds" is on the dance floor. At 20 and then again after divorce at 55.

Maybe another poll a year later soulmate61 or somebody else? I'm here!

How did you manage to get all those options soulmate?
When I did a poll I think it was 4 or 5 options allowed.
