Help with Philips Soundbar HTS8100 Ambisound
I bought this soundbar in 2008 when they were fairly new on the market, cost me £600 so I assume they are not rubbish and are supposed to last longer than 3 years.
The problem I`m having is the sound is cutting out after it`s been switched on for about 2 - 3 hours and I have to switch it off for approx 1 hour then the process repeats itself. It`s been happening now for about 2 weeks and I`ve looked through the manual but can`t find any explanation there. Could anyone possibly give me any advice. |

It sounds very much like an intermittent connection caused by a bad solder joint. As the device warms up there's enough thermal expansion to break a connection. Equally it could be a bit of silicon also going faulty. They also so early signs of failure when heated.
If it is one of these as the cause then it's not something that can be fixed by pressing buttons. Someone has to strip the product and go through the components one by one to find the fault, or order replacement boards. |

Thanks for your reply. I don`t really understand what exactly you say but I assume this means I have to get someone to look at it and I don`t suppose it will be cheap. It`s just the cherry on the top of the cake at the moment as I also have laptop problems, never rains etc.
