This Sundays Official Top 40 to be "swamped" with the same old Christmas Songs
fugitive

Since downloads counted toward the chart, the old Christmas songs everyone likes have re-entered the charts every year for about the past 5 or 6 years.

This year it seems people have gone beserk downloading these same songs- and this will be reflected in the Official Chart on Sunday.

I think its getting a bit tiresome having these same songs "cluttering" the top 40 every December.

What annoys me is, there are lots of new Christmas songs and non-Christmas songs, this year- and the past couple of years which are getting overlooked.

I think TOTP should be on from Mid November to help promote all the NEW material being released

And with this new iTunes feature- if youve already downloaded the song- it prompts you to download again for Free.

Yes but the standard of Christmas songs in the past few years has been very poor compared to the classics. In my opinion the only one that even comes close is the Darkness' Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End).

And non-Christmas songs are irrelevant to my post.

Why are there no Easter songs? Or Halloween ones (apart from Jacko's "Thriller").

I'm not against it at all. If the song is selling, it has every right to chart, even if it crops up every year.

OMG you have just saved my life (well I overreact but...)

I have two ITUNES libraries on the go at the moment old lap top and new lap top and it was a bit of nightmare transferring things over-could'nt get ICLOUD to work, so reinstalled ITUNES per your link and ICLOUD is now working.

Merry Christmas to you and everybody!!!!!!

People need to start downloading the Florin Street Band. I think that's a cracking little song, with enough publicity it could become a future "christmas classic".

I agree with the above and urge people to listen to the song if they've not done so already as it is an absolute gem of a song. My favourite was "Fairytale of NY" until I heard "My Favourite Time of Year" You can view the video on the Florin Street Band website:

http://www.florinstreet.com

It's a NEW song. Was originally released too late in 2010 to make any impression on the charts however has had over 500,000 views on You Tube since being uploaded and was re-released on 5 December 2011.

Radio Stations will not play the song as it's from a small record label so it's STILL proving difficult to get the song out to the wider audience.

However, ITV1 are using the song for their TEXT SANTA shows in December so that should help and ALL profits from downloads are going to the Text Santa charities and the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust.

I urge people to get behind this song if they want a NEW 'CLASSIC' in the charts this Christmas.

For those who might not be aware, iTunes have discounted all Christmas songs to 59p and are advertising them on the home page, which is why there's so many Christmas songs in the chart.

If it weren't for that, there'd probably only be two or three in the top 40 on Sunday, but now there's probably be like 7 or 8.

Charts = bollocks at the best of times, that's why I haven't paid attention to them for 15 years
