IMO once again like many things on SCD and ITT, a staged piece designed to play on the personas which have developed/been manipulated/exxagerated into existence, of all those who are front of camera.

Not necessarily designed for everyone to find it funny either, I suspect, i.e. if you find James either amusing or irritating, you may have found him more so through this piece. Conversely it may have changed your mind about him a litttle. Either way, it keeps him getting talked about, and that's what the producers want.

James is clearly just having fun and this is understood by everyone around him. Unfortunately what works well live can be distorted by television and this is often further compounded by a pre-existing dislike of James.

He is a nasty piece of work and it was a genuine knee jerk reaction because he thought he would win. I think he tried to turn it into a pretend strop but he's not particularly bright and he looked a pillock

FWIW I think they knew the results before they sat down.

I am not to sure that the girl who turned up with the framed award understood him .He talked over her , she never got a word in .
While I understand people find James funny and it was all in good spirits , from my point of view he carried it too far, forgot to even clap and congratulate , went on and on and drew attention to himself and his jesting when it was in fact Artems moment .
The key to being the court jester is to know the timing and know when to stop and know when its not all about you .On that point James failed miserably IMO

I thought it was mean of ITT not to use her name more. 'The Adjudicator' seemed over-impersonal for ITT. She looked a bit like a rabbit in the headlights - unused to being on TV and even less familiar with the OTT nature of ITT.

The joke was that James desperately wanted to win and was massively disappointed because he didn't (and was even beaten by Brendan ). Consequently he spat his dummy out big time to go along with this ruse.

I like the way he plays it straight because it gives his 'strops' more edge. A conspiratorial wink to the camera would make it less fun for me.

The problem with this longer term is that, as always, less is more. If he overdoes it - it becomes tiresome and a case of . Many people think it's at this stage already.

I just need someone to break through the saccharine candy that is SCD and even more so ITT from time to time. It doesn't have to be James or Brendan but I'm glad they mix it up a little.

Yes, I thought afterwards that might have been the case. Still a strop too far.

What does that mean?

Not being personal by any chance?

How can you know how long people spend on here or what they do with their lives? ITT is a programme connected with SCD and therefore a valid topic for discussion and differences of opinion. It is obvious that many people feel strongly enough to voice their opinion, and why should they not. I'm sure they, and I myself who would be not one of your chosen, can still spare the time to eat cornflakes and whatever else is involved with their days.

We have had complaints about FMs being personal to posters, but you seem to get away with it.

Yes, I think so too, it definitely looked a bit stage-managed.

The adjudicator was a bit pointless, especially considering it was a different person to the one who'd actually been there for the challenge!

Oh dont worry about me hon . The poster of that has no clue what I do all day and how I spend it . Its of no consequence to me at all what he/she thinks of my time on here .
But Thank you for be kind . From one non chosen to another

I thought that it was pretty clear that they were all messing around and that no-one was taking it very seriously. It wasn't exactly an Olympic medal at stake.

That. They are very good friends (that's why they keep dancing with each other). He knows everyone expects him to be ultracompetitive

And just in case there's anybody out there who still doesn't know that, it was mentioned ad nauseum throughout the botafogo feature over the last week or whatever that James & Brendan are very competitive. OK, has everybody got that?

Obviously not - hence the thread!

I think they missed out on ribbing James that he got beat by Flavia

I think of James in the same way as I do Bruce Forsythe. Both decent people, both just trying to play a comedy role (for the humour aspect of the show) but both not naturally good at it. They would both come across better if they just stayed themseleves (as point already made). I prefer them both much more when they take the latter approach.
