There are people on DS from Glasgow, perhaps you can try and find out through them if they know anything of the guy? I would be visiting Glasgow unexpectedly if it was me to check things out.

The problem is here the dog obviously comes from a breeder who couldn't care less with all the dogs/kids etc. to worry about, not someone who should be breeding dogs.
The man from Glasgow is very plausible. Yes liars and con men always are.
Let's hope to god he is genuine and the dog is going to a good home, but I fear if Glasgow is a long way to travel for the pup then I would think there would be something suitable a lot closer to his home through rescue organisations etc I would question why he's travelled so far..

I am hoping that this guy is genuine, and urge this family not to have another dog until they learn that dogs are not toys or fashion accessories. They need love, care and training. It seems that no effort was put in, and then they wonder why their little puppy doesn't behave. Well, it's not rocket science is it ?
As for the " breeder " ..... she is the worst type of BYB by the sounds of it.
A sorry sad tale all round with a poor innocent puppy being caught in the middle of a bunch of adults who have no clue how to treat an animal.

There's really no reason to be like that at all. Who do you think you are to say we didn't put any effort in? We've worked hard every day to be consistant with the puppy and although she eventually started learning how to behave, the biting was still going on. Did you not read my earlier post about the puppy biting a child on the cheek? She was very vicious when she wanted to be. We didn't have a clue about dogs, no, but we trusted the breeder who promised to guide us through the process and make sure we and the puppy were okay. The puppy was extremely hard work, much harder than we ever anticipated, and we maybe we SHOULD have paid for classes but if the option is there for her to go another home where she'll have a much better life (and owners with previous dog experience) it was only for the best that she went.

I'll tell you. I'm a responsible dog owner who loves and cherishes my pets. I could no more give one of my animals away than one of my children. I am also the owner of a dog with behavioural issues which we have addressed by taking him to training classes and a dog behaviourist. He or she may be the child of those responsible for purchasing this puppy, but they are clearly old enough to put their business on a public forum for the rest of us to comment on.
If you had read my posts on this and the other thread you will see that I have posted my thoughts about the family as a whole and the " breeder " and have not singled out the OP as being wholly to blame.

While nobody may be in a position to judge over an internet forum, i do think it is worth while taking into consideration that the OP came on here originally asking for advice on how to train the puppy & was given some excellent advice which didn't seem to be taken on board.
Then after finding out the puppy was to be rehomed they were then giving more advice about how to go about this, yet still went about rehoming via Gumtree. - Okay i appreciate that the OP isn't the owner responsible for the dog, however they were the one to first pose the questions about the dog.
I just think that the whole situation is very sad, but there is nothing more to be done or said about the matter since the puppy has now been rehomed & we can all but hope that the new owner will train it properly & give it the home it deserves.

Regarding biting problems - is this quite common in puppy's as a general? i myself have never trained a puppy, but i do remember being a teenager when my uncle's springer spaniel was a puppy and being terrified of it because it use to nip at your ankles so i had to sit & eat my lunch outside because i was too scared to go inside!
I'm not wanting to get back into a debate about the original posters puppy, but just asking out of my own curiousity as to whether it is all that unusual for puppy's to do this.
All puppies engage in " mouthing " which is generally gnawing on anything including your hands. They should be corrected as soon as they start doing this with a firm command, but never a smack. They should also have plenty of toys to gnaw on.
Some people think that mouthing is just a way of playing with their puppy and never do anything about it. Obviously when the puppy gets a bit older, mouthing gets a bit more painful for the recipient and is then called biting.
I am no expert in dog training but have managed to own 6 dogs in my lifetime all of whom were well tempered and well balanced. Until we got our mad boxer/bull mastiff. We have had problems with him, but with professional help we are continuing to help him be the dog he deserves to be. Nothing to do with biting though.

I'm glad you are helping your dog become a wonderful companion. It's nice to hear when dogs get the help they need with training etc.
I personally have never owned a dog, with working full time & other factors i know i wouldn't be able to give a dog the time & attention it needs, especially a puppy. But luckily my Mum owns the most gorgeous husky so i get to see him whenever i like !
Plus i have to admit i am a bit more of a cat person, with owning two who have become like family to me

Jesus christ she is a baby. Show me one baby/toddler who does not misbehave at times. She was not being malicious, she was playing. Just like kittens scratch bite and run up curtains. God almighty.

Mouthing is perfectly normal,all pups do it, there should have been putside help brought in, we had to do it with an extremely mouthy pup, she was relentless, but we never gave up, we kept our children at a safe distance,she was trained by a professional and is now the most beautiful dog, she ripped up floors. bit us, was crazy for getting on for a year, but we never gave up.She was ours, how could we?
