Christa Ackroyd - Has she been dropped?

http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.u...royd-1-5577922

The Yorkshire Evening Post has started questioning why Christa had been off air for 6 weeks from Look North.

Her twitter shows she has been in Sydney visiting her daughter for a month but has been back in uk for a few weeks now but as the weeks go by it appears she may be in dispute with her contract and her wage.

As she is freelance it would appear that Look North may not be willing to pay her current fee for presenting which is an astonishing £150,000.

Her twitter headline still says she is a presenter on Look North but she has made no mention of the programme in any tweets for the last couple of months.

I wondered what had happened to her but £150,000 a year seems excessive for a BBC local news presenter in the current climate. I wonder what Harry's on and he must be approaching retirement age.

Does it realy need two people to present a half hour news programme?

I assume Harry Gration will be on as much, if not nore, so at least £300,000 goes to present a regional news programme.

I doubt Riz Lateef (who presents London single handidly) would be on £300,000, and London would be considered a bigger, more high profile job.

I'm afraid Christa Ackroyd will have to get real, and accept less- or leave.

Why would anyone want to kick up a fuss if they were on a wage of £150.000? And it was going to be cut a little bit, I'm sure most people would be greatful to get £50.000 for doing what she does.

Try telling that to Carol Vorderman.

Sounds like BBC Birmingham's Suzanne Virdee over again.

I really hope Nicola Rees doesn't get the job permanently I had the misfortune to meet this stuck up woman at the Olympic Torch rally in Doncaster not a nice person I would like Amanda Harper to get it but as she is heavily pregnant it's unlikely she will.

Make Clare Frisby the main presenter again who was sidelined when they poached the python from Yorshire Television.

£150k a year is a very good reason to drop her. Ridiculous money for a two bit presenter whose speech inflections annoy me intensely.

The amount of money that must be spent on Look North for very dubious benefits to viewers is crazy. If the Beeb is eventually doing something to cut back on it's excesses here just think how much more of our money could be saved if this sort of cost cutting was mirrored elsewhere. I hope the rumours are correct and that this might be the dawn of a new, more realistic, local news service.

It is about time everyone at Look North gets real and sees themselves as doing a public service job for sensible money.

We can do without a Prima Donna thank you Ms Ackroyd.

We don't know for sure her absence is to do with contractual matters but there must be dozens of people perfectly able to present a local news programme and happy to do so for much less than £150,000.

We hired her once to do an all-day conference. She charged £1000 and this was five years ago.

The fact that she was poached from a rival channel in a boom period, would probably explain her large salary.

Blimey , bet he wasn't on that in the 70's when he was a teacher at the school I went to. Good career move Harry.

At that time Calendar and YTV were a force to be reckoned with now sadly YTV exists in name only as part of itv plc and Calendar has no muscle in local news so BBC Yorkshire don't need to pay top whack as they have virtually no rivals they could put anyone to front it and it would still get more viewers than Calendar.

Why? Because she was offered the money? Shouldn't it be the BBCs fault for paying it?

She'd be more stupid to turn it down.

For those that didn't click on above link Daily Mail says she earns £225 k a year, which is quite ridiculous.

Even the Director General of BBC 'only' earns about £450k, and that job carries real responsibilities.

It's not even as if she presents it on her own- as she is co-presenter with Harry Gration.

Yep the colleagues are sticking the knife in i.e. the female ones who see a nice little regional anchor role becoming available.

I wonder if Paul Hudson misses her or is actually glad that was a bizarre "working" relationship they had.

How many journalists will be spending this weekend in a little b&b in West Yorkshire.
