Colin Murray will continue to host AFAIK. I would hope Jim is there again this year, done a fine job previously. Can't see any reason why he wouldn't be.

With Drury firmly not within ITV's plans (even on their Darts) maybe he could pop up. BBC could do with maybe 4 at least in the box. I always felt the three man team across two channels was a little stretched.

Munster v Scarlets (RaboDirect Pro 12 RU)

S4C had Gareth Roberts hosting studio coverage with Rhodri-Gomer Davies and *I think* Brynmor Williams, with commentary from Huw Llewellyn Davies and Dr. Gwyn Jones. Gareth Rhys Owen was pitchside reporter. Gareth Charles and Tom Shanklin were on Red Button duty.

Nice bit of 'drama' at the end there!

Good news- he has just tweeted that he'll be back on the 27th and 28th.
Really enjoyed his and Mardle's commentary earlier.

Really don't understand why people dislike Rod Studd on the darts? He does a great job for Rugby League and he's doing a stand up job on the darts. Very professional in the way he does things, as shown during Taylors a**eholeness in that interview a couple of months ago.

On a side note, more Crofty and less of Deckchair Dave. Miss Crofty doing the BDO since he moved over for the F1, was good to see him back yesterday afternoon, albeit just for the one session. Made up he's coming back.

I don't have a problem with Rodd Studd, but he is just a bit average for me as a commentator. Good interviewer though.

For the first time I didn't think Mardle was a buffoon in commentary last night when he was alongside Crofty.

I like Rod Studd too, he is very good on the rugby league and excellent on the darts too. Mardle has started to annoy me now, he is getting too excitable for my liking.

As for Crofty, nice to see him back although I do think he talks too much still. That is the radio commentator in him. Glad to see Clarky back last night too. I like old Deckchair, good Yorkshire lad.

Very good commentaries on the darts last night. My only minor criticism would be that players seem to get totally written off even when they are only a leg behind or so. For example several times Mardle or Pyke would say Webster not on form here, doesn't look like doing anything etc only for him to win a leg and then the following leg it would be Webster has regained is form, always possible etc etc. I enjoy nearly all the darts commentators but with the exception of Part they do fall into the trap of regularly going from a player is doing awful to amazing, often within a leg.

I agree with you on that, too many times when a player loses a first set they're classed as being 'in real trouble' even if that set has gone with throw.

I think I've mentioned it before, but I feel at times they fall into a trap of trying to be too much like Sid Waddell. It's why Croft, and Jim Proudfoot when he did the BBC darts are good because they settle into their own style of commentary

Crofy hosted yesterday afternoon too. It's been the pattern from the 23rd too. Croft host daytime, Clark night. Then Croft commentates on the first evening game.

Burnett v White was (if I recall) Stuart Pyke and Wayne Mardle.

Just to confirm, the Radio Times says that Colin Murray is indeed presenting the darts on the Beeb, with commentary by Tony Green, Vassos Alexander and... Jim Proudfoot.

I probably should have posted this on here or elsewhere at the time, but during the closing link of his final talkSPORT mid-morning show of 2013 on Christmas Eve, Colin mentioned that he'd be back presenting the show during the second week of January 2014 with him due to have the first week off to cover the BDO World Darts Championship at the Lakeside. I guess this was always going to be the case and was something that was known when he left Radio 5 Live to join talkSPORT in the summer.

As for Jim Proudfoot, good to hear that he will be part of the team, but what chance of him not being available to commentate on the semi-finals due to him being committed to commentating on Absolute Radio's Premier League coverage? This was the case last year when he was working at Lakeside primarily for ESPN, although he did work the opening Saturday of the tournament with it being FA Cup Third Round day (which Absolute don't have radio rights too). I could see the same thing happening again this time around.
