I have just switched on the Rugby League and noticed that both teams are wearing the same colours and style of socks plus some Leeds players have dyed their hair. Why? Sports Relief?

Leeds players died their hair once the fans raised enough money for the charity |

Sky Sports - Sri Lanka vs England, The 1st Test
Presenter: Ian Ward Pundits: Mark Butcher & Bob Willis Commentators: Tony Greig, Russell Arnold, Roshan Abeysinghe, Nick Knight, Sir Ian Botham and Michael Atherton Highlights were presented by Charles Colville with Angus Fraser and Alec Stewart David Gower seems to be on holiday, probably because this is only a two test series and he'd just done the series against Pakistan. I wish they wouldn't use Nick Knight, he really is the epitome of the bland player-turned-pundit. Galle looks absolutely gorgeous by the way. |

I thought that it was Tony Greig this morning. I presume that Channel Nine is not covering West Indies v Australia.

I find it odd that Sky contribute so many commentators for what is a host broadcaster (ten sports) operation. Their twitter feed described Atherton, Botham and Knight "on loan" but they do interviews and links back to the studio with sky branded mics. Of course they had 4 out in the UAE for the recent Pakistan series. (again Ten were the hosts.) Only Barry Richards for example is in New Zealand for the South African tour, even though SuperSport are taking the SkyNZ feed. |

Yep they have contributed Nathan Bracken and (i think) Geoff Lawson to the ODI series, Along with Ian Bishop, Tony Crozier and Michael Holding for the host broadcaster. It's been a while since shelsey has posted his list of commentators, i normally leave it to him to go through them as he does a superb job.

Only Barry Richards for example is in New Zealand for the South African tour, even though SuperSport are taking the SkyNZ feed. A quick summary though of the stuff which hasn't been posted above: NZ v SA - Matt Floyd presenting the 1st Test;Paul Allott the 2nd and 3rd. Jeremy Coney used throughout the series as a pundit, with Angus Fraser (1st and 2nd Tests and 3rd Test, Day 4), Shaun Udal (3rd Test Days 1-3) and John Emburey (3rd Test Day 5). Simon Doull, Ian Smith, Mark Richardson, Craig McMillan, Shane Bond (2nd and 3rd Tests), Jacob Oram (1st Test) and Barry Richards on the Sky NZ commentary team. WI v Aus - Matt Floyd presenting, with Colin Croft and Shaun Udal (1st-3rd ODIs) and Ian Harvey (4th-5th ODIs). Gower usually only seems to do one series each winter (last year an exception with the Ashes and the World Cup). Tony Greig has worked in SL for a few years now, and is an ambassador for the SL tourist board - watch out for him promoting the beaches, hotels and scenery in the matches. Will be interesting to see if Sky use him on some of their link ups with the studio - Ramiz, Sohail and Waqar were all used at some point in the UAE and Russel Arnold was today. I guess that Sky help pay for the coverage and so get to contribute so heavily to the team - where this isn't possible they simply do their own commentary. I doubt Ten will be paying for Botham, Atherton and Knight in any way - thus having more English commentators saves Ten money whilst improving the standard of their broadcast as otherwise they would be left searching around for 'cheapish' freelances as host broadcasters often have to when Australia are in town. |

Aren't the Sky-branded mics only visible in interviews and links only meant for broadcast by Sky? In other words, they don't get seen by Ten viewers. Quote:
I've been very busy lately so I've had to take a break from logging every match - will probably resume doing this in the next couple of weeks.

Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th March - Root Sports Northwest, MLB Network (USA) & ESPN America (Europe)
Major League Baseball Opening Series 2012 Seattle Mariners @ Oakland Athletics (Tokyo Dome) - Dave Sims and Mike Blowers (off-tube commentary), with Jen Mueller reporting from Tokyo This coverage was primarily that of the Mariners local telecast aired under the Mariners Baseball banner, although it was also broadcast nationally in the USA by the MLB Network on a delayed basis, with the A's local broadcasters choosing not to televise the two game series at all. Going into the 2012 MLB season, there has only been one personnel change when it comes to the announcing teams of the national US broadcasters. Bobby Valentine left ESPN to become the new manager of the Boston Red Sox during the offseason, and moving in the other direction to replace him in the Sunday Night Baseball commentary box is Terry Francona. The outgoing Red Sox boss won rave reviews for his work substituting for an unwell Tim McCarver on Fox's postseason coverage last year and he will now join Dan Shulman and Orel Hershiser as part of SNB's three man booth. ESPN's Monday and Wednesday Night Baseball line-ups are unchanged. While Fox and TBS don't have set commentary teams on their weekend coverage, I haven't heard of any significant changes to the pool of play-by-play and colour commentators they call upon. Would anyone be interested in details of the fixtures chosen, networks taken and broadcasters used on MLB.com's Free Game of the Day? I have registered for a free account on MLB.com as every day during the regular season a local telecast of an MLB game will be streamed, both live and on-demand, on a free basis. I would be happy to post details of these games once every week or fortnight if it would be of interest to some of you on here. |

Thanks for that Li4m. I am sure it will make for interesting reading. I have my own likes and dislikes from getting to know some baseball broadcasters from Channel 5 and Radio 5 Live Sports Extra's coverage but I am look forward to getting to hear a few more commentary teams through MLB.com.
