It's not just commentary, some of the pictures are being provided by external production companies as well eg Sunset + Vine.
Not just some:
All of the pictures are being provided by Sunset & Vine.

Slightly surprisingly the BBC red button stream of the athletics is taking what I presume is the World Feed comms of John Rawling, Rob Walker and Katherine Merry

It is the world feed but i cant see why its a surprise, makes sense to me rather than have silence. BBC aren't really going to fill all the long gaps with their own commentary I guess

Probably not overly surprisingly as the BBC's own commentary are only doing the bits and bobs they are handed over to on the main channels.

I suppose the reason it surprised me is because you get the same situation with the swimming stream and yet they don't use the world feed.

If they've broken away from BBC1/3 or handed to Clare Balding you still get a long period of silence or Jameson and Moorhouse just fill

Yeah i can see your logic in that. I have no idea who the world feed commentators are on the swimming because, as you say, its been BBC voices

RTE are indeed out, withdrawing after Sky came on board.
Without wanting to go off topic, I think Sky get first pick but can only show a fixture once. i.e. cant show both home and away league games.

ie. they can show only one of munster v ulster/ ulster v munster

Nick Mullins has hinted on Twitter that he is doing the Premiership 7s tomorrow. This is after doing 3 WTA matches in the early hours of this morning and the CG 7s at the weekend. The man doesn't seem to need sleep.

Aviva Premiership Rugby on BT Sport - 2013/14 Season Roundup

I've collated a spreadsheet with commentary statistics here. Some of them (in particular the number of appearances per team) are quite surprising, considering this includes the playoffs.

Number of Appearances (Teams):
Leicester - 18
Northampton - 17
Bath - 16
Harlequins - 15
Saracens - 14
Gloucester - 12
Exeter - 9
Sale - 8
Wasps - 8
Worcester - 8
Irish - 7
Newcastle - 6

Main Commentator Appearances:
Nick Mullins - 36
Ali Eykyn - 33

Co-Commentator Appearances (Forward):
Ben Kay - 42
Lawrence Dallaglio - 20
David Flatman - 3
Alex Corbisiero - 1
Gary Gold - 1
Nick Kennedy - 1

Co-Commentator Appearances (Back):
Austin Healey - 43
Matt Dawson - 22
Paul Grayson - 3
Matt Perry - 1

Tour de France, ITV & ITV4

Gary Imlach presenting live coverage and highlights with Chris Boardman and David Millar

Commentators: Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen

Reporters: Ned Boulting, Matt Rendell and Jill Douglas

A couple of new members to the ITV TdF team this year - David Millar joins as an analyst having missed out on competing, while Jill Douglas is part of their reporting team. It'll be interesting to see if she's used beyond the first three stages in England.
To return to this post almost a week on from the conclusion of the race, just to clear a few things up.

David Millar and Jill Douglas were only involved in ITV/ITV4's coverage during the first three days of the Tour while it was in the UK. From the fourth stage onwards, the six members of their team who have been involved in their coverage every year during the recent past primarily made up their team, although Mark Cavendish did some punditry on their highlights show during the second Monday rest day. Anthony McCrossan and Rochelle Gilmore commentated on women's race La Course on Sunday ahead of the final stage on the Champs-Elysees.

Great coverage of the Tour as always from ITV4 - they and their production team always do a superb job. Good to see that ITV4 will be providing daily highlights on La Vuelta a Espana next month. It'll be interesting to see if they pick up rights of some form to the third Grand Tour, the Giro d'Italia, next year. Previously ariusuk has posted that the main thing that has prevented them from covering the Giro previously was how the race clashes with the Indian Premier League cricket - with IPL rights transferring to Sky Sports next year thus meaning that stumbling is block out of the way, it'll be interesting to see if they look at adding Giro coverage to their line-up in 2015.

I only saw Saturday's coverage, but I presume this was the line-up all week (with 2 notable absentees ensconced north of the border):

Presenter: Nick Luck with Mick Fitzgerald
Studio Analysis: Emma Spencer with Jim McGrath and Graham Cunningham
Betting: Tanya Stevenson
Commentator: Simon Holt
Fashion Segments: Gina Harding (nee Bryce) and Gok Wan

(Harding also conducted post-race interviews with winning jockeys)
