Week late or so I'm sure Tyrone Howe conducted the interviews last weekend. Seems to be the case for Sky the game that isn't where the presenters are the 'third man' in the box does the reporting role too.

Thanks for answering my question and also for posting yesterday's Sky Sports 1 Pro12 coverage details.

On the PDC Darts - I don't know if it's just me but I felt some of the camera work has been poorer this tournament - lot's of missed/near missed shots - don't know if there is someone new doing the spotting or something.

On a side note although on this last quarter final tonight - I wonder if Stuart Pyke will be the next to be 'edged out' by Sky? On paper seems to have done lesser games/used less this tourny. (Example being tonight on paper Barney v Bunting probably 4th pick QF - he is alongside Harrington). Could be wrong but heyho

Changing codes to the BDO World Darts Championship which starts today, Jim Proudfoot has confirmed he'll be part of the shared BBC TV/BT Sport commentary team - it will be interesting to hear him on the latter given that he is one of the few ESPN UK European football commentators who wasn't carried over to BT Sport when it picked up the channel in 2013 - but he won't be joining the team at the Lakeside until Tuesday.

This is due to his involvement on talkSPORT's FA Cup coverage (he'll be reporting on and hosting their post-match phone-in from Leicester City v Newcastle United today and then commentating on Dover Athletic v Crystal Palace tomorrow and AFC Wimbledon v Liverpool on Monday). If you remember JP missed semi-finals day at the Lakeside during the last two years due to his Premier League commentary commitments for Absolute Radio (he didn't miss a single PL commentary game during his four seasons there), however there's no suggestion he'll not be available next weekend despite his regular PL commentary work on the league's international TV feed.

John Rawling will return to the BDO darts as well and Ted Hankey will be working at the Lakeside for BT Sport.

I don't think Pyke is being. Mardle joined him later on, last match for Harrington. They used to give Pearson and Harrington half a quarter each, the latter got a full one this year.

Im pretty sure Pyke, Part, Studd and Mardle will each get a semi, and likely that the final will be split Pyke and Part frst half, Mardle and Studd to end

On form in this tourny I'd have Part and Croft calling the part 2 of the final. Loved both of them on the comms. Mardle/Studd is just such a poor line up.

Just to note that Nigel Pearson did his last commentary stint for Sky Sports Darts at the Alexandra Palace on the New Year's Day quarter-finals, he's confirmed this on Twitter.

For the record, Nigel wasn't involved in SSD's World Darts Championship coverage on Saturday 20th and Sunday 28th December as he was at Aston Villa on football reporting duty for talkSPORT, although he did double up on NYD covering the early game at Stoke City on the radio and then the Gary Anderson v Peter Wright QF on TV.

I'd agree with this. Croft and Part are two of my favourites on the Sky coverage - though to be fair I'm fine with most of the Sky team except for Mardle.

No other person on commentary in any sport has me yelling 'shut up' at the TV as much as him and I just find his commentary extremely irritating - he never seems to shut up and talks rubbish most of the time. And it feels like he tries and make a narrative of the entire match from every single leg of a match - which gets annoying very quickly.
He really detracts from the matches for me. Sky I feel seem to rate him though so he'll probably be on the commentary for the final.

Saturday 3rd January - S4C

Clwb Rygbi: Scarlets v Ospreys

Gareth Roberts presented from Parc y Sgarlets alongside Nicky Robinson and Dafydd Jones, with Deiniol Jones in the analysis truck

Commentators: Gareth Charles, Gwyn Jones and Dwayne Peel

Reporter: Lowri Morgan

This is fairly interesting - according to the channel's Twitter account, S4C were not able to offer an alternative English language commentary on the Red Button tonight as the English language broadcasting rights to this match were exclusive to Sky Sports.

Too true- Somehow he manages to be even more irritating as a commentator than he ever was as a player. And that takes some doing.

John Part is sublime however- easily the best at Sky.

What David Croft is doing sat at home watching the darts when he should be commentating is beyond me. Along with John Part they are the two outstanding darts comms along with Stuart Pike.

Sky seem to be fixated with Wayne Mardle as he has been used the most throughout the past two weeks. I can take him or leave him, but reading here and on darts forum, others don't enjoy his commentary very much.

I really disliked mardle when he first started, but he's grown on me. I also think pearson has improved lots, far less shouting.

4th pick ? in whose eyes ? It was always going to be the best of the 4 matches.

Didn't Stuart Pyke do some of the final last year? Didn't another poster suggest he may have slipped down the pecking order
