Yes is the answer to both of your questions. Last year Pyke opened proceedings alongside Part with Studd and Mardle anchoring the commentary. How Studd gets the whole of the final is a shocking decision, and then not only that he then comes on stage to provide the interviews. Both Pyke and Croft are far superior commentators to Studd and Sky should never have forced John Gwynne out of their darts commentary as he was easily one of, if not the best around and since the retirement of Lanning and the sad death of Waddell then it makes the decision even more strange.

Don't think it's received any press, but this might be the last year of a weekly Ski Sunday. Back in November a new deal was signed with Eurosport for coverage of Alpine and Nordic events until 2021, in the release there was this quote

Quote:
“In line with Eurosport’s current strategy of expanding exclusivity in pillar sports and for local markets, the broadcaster has secured exclusive coverage in the UK, France, Poland, Romania and Spain for all disciplines of the FIS Alpine and Nordic Ski World Cup races and in Sweden for the American and Canadian FIS Alpine Ski World Cup races.”

It's not quite clear if it refers just to live rights, but it may well cover highlights too

You wonder why they bother having a separate commentary team for Alba's red button to the one for Scrum V, especially with Andy Nicol in their box tonight.

Hmm - yeah it's one of those they could have pooled together. In some ways you'd be better off having full welsh comms and full Scottish line up if you are having two commentary set ups... Although to be fair Colin Gregor is REALLY dull so I'm watching S4C!

Surprised Alba are going to the effort set up for Edinburgh, as they aren't showing it live Mitchell and Hastings are offtube at BBC Scotland HQ doing it. It's actually pisspoor it's not getting shown on BBC or Sky live, as it's on a Gaelic channel in Ireland only. I'm sure BBC 2 Sco or the BBC website should have shown it live alongside Glasgow.

I suppose games on TG4 are no different to games on S4C, although perhaps it should be available over here.

If you consider whether a Premiership game with teams in similar positions to Connacht and Edinburgh would be shown live, though, perhaps it's not at all surprising, although only showing it delayed is a little odd.

I'm not the biggest fan of Helen Skelton at all but she has came in on the Darts and done a 200% better job than Laure James in the interviewing stakes on the darts.

I saw some of the coverage on BBC this afternoon and George Riley was commentating, has he been there all week or has he just recently appeared?

think he arrived on Thursday Alex. I am guessing he is the replacement for John Rawling. I did notice he made a couple of errors too. Some mathematical and one where he said that if Ross Montgomery he would be the 3rd Scottish Lakeside World Champ after Jocky Wilson and Ross Wallace. I think he means LES Wallace.

Cheers Darren, bonkers scheduling having Montgomery play his QF the afternoon after his second round win!

It perhaps would have been sensible if BBC Alba's Red Button carried the main Scrum V Live feed.

I'm not normally a fan of Andy Nicol or the three-person commentary set-up generally, but I thought he and the commentary as a whole was really listenable last night. Both analysts brought something to the table, Nicol demonstrated his knowledge of the Scottish clubs while being interested in hearing his colleagues' views on the state of the Welsh regions, with Stuart Davies - a very underrated analyst in my view, who I wouldn't mind seeing/hearing more of - providing the other side of the coin. It was one of those occasions when having an analyst from the nation of each team involved worked really well.

I disagree. There was 15 hours between the matches. Darts players are used to playing many matches in a day. 15 hours isn't a quick turnaround for me.

If both he and Adams had played on Thursday it would have been different, I just felt it was too unbalanced with Adams having played on Wednesday and having the extra day off.

Thought at the very least they could have kept them until the evening session.
