Presenter: Claire Balding
With: Katherine Grainger, James Cracknell, Sir Mathew Pinsent, Tom James & Andrew Triggs-Hodge
Commentators: Jonathan Legard & Dan Topolski with Wayne Pommen
Reporter: Sonali Shah

Features:
Oz Clarke & James May with a trip up the Thames
Matthew Pinsent with a look at the Thames
Look at the Mutiny of 1987

Matthew Pinsent was also assistant umpire during the race and was interviewed by the commentators during the protest.
Have to say I was appalled with Topolski, he was very ungracious. I know he is an Oxford man but his suggestion that Oxford should "stop rowing" so it becomes a void race was uncalled for.

is that michael vaughan doing interviews for bbctv's masters coverage
his interview technique was very unprofessional
bbctv has many talented reporters why is a has been cricket player involved
bbctv is a disgrace
I thought he did fine. Asked some interesting questions and did the job he was paid to do. Don't know why you see appointing a cricket players as a problem.

Apart from telling Tiger Woods he'd only won the Masters 3 times

I heard about that. He was lucky to get an interview with Tiger - usually he only does the world feed (US) interview and the press conference.

According to a message that's popped up on Midweek Final Score, James May will provide 'alternative'' commentary on the Grand National on Saturday.

If true, it essentially sums up why the BBC have lost all their horse racing coverage!

Round 1 – Qatar

Presenter: Matt Roberts
Commentators: Charlie Cox & Steve Parrish
Pitlane Reporter: Azi Farni

Moto2 & Moto 3: The Moto2 & Moto3 World Feed was on the BBC Red Button but never heard a name check but looking at the internet I think it was Gavin Emmett, Nick Harris & Ian Wheeler commentating

It was the same team that presented the MotoGP last season. Matt Roberts presented with punditry from Cox & Parrish before they went to the commentary box and Roberts did the Gridwalk before the race.

Almost certain it would of been Emmett and Harris at least on the Moto GP World Feed, as always. Usually joined by a rotating third man.

As one of those casual, non-horse racing fans that only watches the National each year, I might be interested in the alternative commentary. I can't really follow the regular fast-paced commentary. It certainly wouldn't be suitable for proper horse racing aficionados though.

Is Bishop at the IPL? It was a bit weird hearing only 5 voices over the course of a days play. Made me realise how much i enjoy the diversity of the Sky box.

I'm the opposite, I think the quality of the TWI team shows how you don't need massive budgets and huge numbers of commentators to have an excellent broadcast. It's in stark contrast to the channel nine box where the 9-10 commentators have a competition to see who can shout the loudest. Not that the sky team aren't good of course.

Huge fan of Cozier, Holding and (especially) Mohammad although I will admit I was surprised Ian Bishop seems to have disappeared (he isn't at the IPL or at least the press release for commentators didn't say he was). Not yet convinced by Bracken, but, he is only just starting out.

A little unusual to have two foreign commentators in a five-man team - I assume Bishop was unavailable as he is usually their main man. A shame we don't seem to have Jeff Dujon for this series either, but Cozier, Holding and Mohammad still ensure that watching WI cricket is a very enjoyable experience.

They only ever have five commentators (except for when England tour and Sky pay for their guys), probably for financial reasons.

What's going to be "alternative" about it in style terms?

And what's James May's connection with horse racing?

Melrose 7's - BBC 2 Scotland & Online

Dougie Vipond Presents.

Bill Johnstone & Scott Hastings with commentary. Co-comms and punditry from Andy Nicol and Doddie Weir (Who also alternating as pitchside reporter too)

Scott Hasting's can't go a weekend without annoying me and commentating!! The official listing has John Beattie down (as he usually commentates alternate games with Bill Johnstone) but isn't there it seems. It's Scott!

John Beattie Turned up in the studio between the final, stating his virus/lack of voice for not commentating today! Also in the studio is Graham Shiel, Scotland 7s coach.

Not forgetting Mick Fitzgerald. And a poignant sign-off from Clare; "that was the Grand National from the BBC".

Does anybody know who the course commentators were? I recognised Mark Johnson and Stewart Machin but did not recognise the third commentator.
