With the graphics on the French match today disappearing during replays as French broadcasters' graphics seem to do.
Interesting that they've gone with the BBC's font etc. and merged it with the world feed design from last year. |

Almost certainly then it'll be presented out of vision, as Skippings and Henwood are usually only used to do voice-overs.

They also had a few new daft features, such as the Scum V Rant Box (members of the studio audience sounding off about the Wales match), the studio audience raising pieces of paper to show who they think will win the Scotland v Wales match next weekend and Mark Ring performing a magic trick (believe it or not - a play on his nickname)! |

Eddie Butler on a Scotland game... Been a LONG time! Trying to rack my brains. Cotter has done Scotland v England since 2009 at least. In fact Eddie Butler's last game/apparence to Murrayfield - 2009 v Australia in the Autumn(?) Please correct me there if i'm wrong just thinking out loud. So must be 2008 since Butler has done a Scotland 6 Nations game? Again I could have just a big memory lapse there. |

Very good. But I think it isn't necessarily limited to cricket. Across the board lots of sports are adopting this style of in-game commentary and it's worrying that the viewers are now frequently more informed than the experts.
There is also a rose-tinted nature to all of this, there was a reason Billy Birmingham was able to play on the Victorian jingoistic nature of Lawry and the winding up of each other by him and Greig. It certainly wasn't the case that the Channel Nine team knew the Sri Lankan and Asian touring sides of the 1980s and early 1990s in huge depth. Channel's Nine coverage is far from perfect, like many other broadcasters, but it rates strongly and still shows Australian summer internationals FTA, something I'm sure a lot of cricket fans from other nations wish they had! |

Very interesting indeed. Is this a bit of a promotion for Cotter, are they preparing for life without Butler, bit of a shock appointment here. Also Inverdale doing the Scotland game with Logan in Paris.

Suspect it's slightly logistical, if they want Butler/Inverdale doing the Ireland game it makes more sense. Gives them more time and is probably slightly easier than trying to get out of Paris in a hurry late on a Saturday evening

Exactly. I think we sometimes read too much into things on here but i agree Alex. They wouldnt be done in Paris until 9pm French time so makes perfect sense to have the team for the BIG game of the weekend there in plenty of time.
