I hope not, for me Brendan Foster is one of the top co-commentators in sport, he is a great analyst and works really well with Steve Cram. When Paula Radcliffe was on earlier in the week she wasn't nearly as good. I hope Foster carries on until at least Mo Farrah has retired.

On Paul Dickenson, it said in the Radio Times that he was missed last year because he was ill but I've not heard any on-air mention at all which seems strange.

I think the same happened to me actually, certainly when I checked earlier in the day to ensure I had set it to record it didn't seem to be set. I did reset the recording but can't remember whether I cancelled it or not - either way the match didn't record.

Now you say that I do wonder whether ITV had some problems with the EPG for this game.

We're you using Sky+?
I came home on Saturday to find nothing had recorded and all the series links had been lost. (They relinked themselves on Sunday)

Eddie Butler commentating for ITV is somewhat of a surprise.

The ITV press centre lists John Inverdale, Jonny Wilkinson, Lawrence Dallaglio and Clive Woodward as being in the studio for England V Fiji in the opening game of the Rugby World Cup. Nick Mullins and Ben Kay are the commentators.

I wonder if Mullins will do all the England games or if it will be shared with Harrison? I'm only a casual Rugby watcher but I think Harrison is an outstanding commentator. I'm looking forward to hearing Jon Champion too.

I have a feeling Mullins is the #1 and will do the main Saturday games, so the only England game I would expect Harrison to do is England-Uruguay when I expect Mullins to be on Australia-Wales. That and the 3rd place playoff, if England play in that.

With Andy Moore as his co-commentator.

Given who he's used to commentate alongside, what's the betting of a slip of a tongue and Butler calling his co-comm "Brian"?

Unfortunately Inverdale isn't presenting the ITV Wales opt-out, or one of them slipping up would have to go on the drinking game.

I certainly won't be searching for the opt-out though, as Butler-Moore (especially when it's Andy Moore who I don't really like) is inferior to Mullins(-Kay)-Williams.

Same Butler who often has Jiffy or Phillip Matthews or Andy Nicol or Shane Williams or Martyn Williams alongside too... You make it sound like Moore is his only usual co-comm.

James Haddock presenting the very low key European Tour golf event this week on Sky. Not seen him presenting before.
Even Steve Beddow is getting an increasingly rare outing in the commmentary box.

Patrick Winterton and Hester Goodsell are doing the World Rowing Championships for British Eurosport.

Turns out Rob Curling is there in France, as I can hear him sometimes when the cameras show the spectator areas.

Haddock I'm sure has done 1 or 2 ET lower events from the studio before this year. Is he out there or presenting from the studio?

Piss poor stuff when you see the coverage of the above games on this page. Not good enough. Only thing positive I can say is Cusiter is better than Blair. (Scrum half and co-comm )

Fair enough. I've seen at least one other time presenting golf in the studio this year.

I would be pleasantly surprised if Michael Lyster has recovered from his serious heart problem sufficiently to host the programme.
