Is it me, or is Austin Healey starting to fall out of favour in favour of Ugo Monye a little bit?

Also, ITV will be flying MDS and Flatman out to New York for next week's highlights show. And I call it low-budget...

(Does mean Flatman won't be involved in the 6N coverage though.)

That's a lot for Crammy to do. Usually have a second track commentator. No Brendan too

Presume the commentary will be off-tube and Cotter will do athletics Friday and Sunday and the rugby on Saturday.

PR weren't going to let the opportunity go by to showcase the game to a wider audience, both at home and abroad. Resources are going to be spread far and wide this weekend though, am lead to believe people won't necessarily be where you expect them to be

Notably no commentary details on the ITV Six Nations info on tvguide.co.uk, other than Harrison and Gillingham mentioned for commentary on the highlights.

Perhaps Miles Harrison will cover England-Wales then, though Nick Mullins has been tweeting about the game, which he usually only does when he will actually be commentating.

Looks like Nick Mullins, Ben Kay and Martin Bayfield are off to New York then.

Edit: I thought Flatman was going out to NY as well to do ITV highlights? Clearly someone else will be joining MDS out there.

Eykyn, not Mullins, going to New Jersey

Mullins in Coventry then I guess, and on the Friday game I guess as well.

Really odd then that he's not at Twickenham though in that case.

John Rawling is commentating on Crufts for the first time this year. If he's there on the Saturday then he'll miss another big card on BoxNation.

So what does everyone think is the explanation re Mullins?

He works for ITV 6N on Rounds 1, 2, 3 and 5 - doing the only ITV game or the most important game when they had more than one (R3).

Yet on Round 4 he's not involved - when ITV has its biggest game of the whole tournament (ie Eng/Wal).

The strange thing is they've got first dibs to use him on a game in Coventry, not even to fly him out to the US.

But why wouldn't BT have used him on any of the other rounds?

Or did they just use him on a different day in each case - so eg he worked ITV Sat and BT Sun (or vice-versa).

They've picked Eykyn to go to NY, so I guess this weekend Mullins had to do the other. Irrespecitive who was picked to go to NY. Their two main comms would need to be used on the domestic games.

By choice or more likely availability they've not got an option to use Cotter (BBC 6N - priority pick coverage) or Andrew McKenna (maybe Talksport priority stuff).

OK, thanks a lot.

So from what you say it appears that BT were happy to work around ITV on the other 4 rounds - ie they were happy to use alternatives or just put Mullins on a different day - whereas this time they've decided there is no suitable alternative.

So it hasn't been a question of BT just blindly using Mullins on their 1st pick each week. They've been happy to be flexible but only where they think they can reasonably handle it.

Plus - No one could have predicted ENG v WAL could have been a title decider potentially when I'm sure they had pencilled ENG v FRA (which could still be a grandslammer game of course for ENG).

Aviva Premiership Rugby – Friday 11 March (BT Sport 1)

Round 16 – Harlequins v Bath

Craig Doyle at The Stoop with Austin Healey, Lawrence Dallaglio, Nick Evans and Adam Jones.

Commentators: Nick Mullins, Lawrence Dallaglio & Austin Healey

Reporter: Martin Bayfield

Presumably Mullins, Dallaglio and Healey at Wasps again tomorrow, with Eykyn, Kay and Monye in New York. I'd expect BOD to be involved as well if he's not with ITV, especially given it's London Irish. I would guess with Doyle and Bayfield both involved tonight then there will be studio presentation for the second game from London tomorrow with Sarra Elgan reporting from pitchside.
