Mind you that was some time ago and things do move on very quickly.”
He was Sky's main boxing commentator for six months or so once Darke left for ESPN, and for a while was commentating for both them and Frank Warren's BoxNation. Once BN started a few regular domestic fights, he was pretty quickly phased out and replaced by Nick Halling, who left all his freelance gigs to take on the role. Smith, Robinson and Andy Clarke have done the occasional fights as lead commentator since.

Thankfully, the horrendous experiment of Nelson presenting seems to have come to an end, as Ed Robinson has presented all of the Fight Nights this year so far. However, the bits I caught of the last PPV they had (Quigg v Frampton), it appeared that Nelson bizarrely presented that. Not sure whether they think he is more appealing to the more casual fans who watch the big PPV fights, but goodness me, he is dreadful at it. Much better in the punditry role.
Smith seems to have scaled back his on-screen role at the live fights since taking over as head of boxing at Sky.
