In their Sky 2017 sport promos though pretty sure it mentions all four majors too.

The golf TV promo says "all four majors" (and then goes through them all) - but I reckon that's wrong - as it is not stated in the overall Sky Sports TV promo and web article. The web article in particular looks very telling - it's very specific- it's not an accident that they've included the Players Championship but missed out the PGA Championship. Having said all that, there's no report of anyone else winning the PGA Championship rights - so it's entirely possible Sky will still renew these rights before the 2017 event. |

No, Martin Gillingham has been flavour of the month as BT's third-choice commentator. It's a shame, not that I watched either game through, as I do like McKenna's commentary.
Quote:
I'm also reading from the TV Forum that Matt Smith & Chris Mason will be hosting the BT Sport coverage of the BDO Darts. So looks like Ray Stubbs has fully left BT Sport with him focusing on talkSPORT now. Also reading that John Rawling will be part of the commentary team for C4, not sure if it's going to be shared between the two broadcasters again like previous years.
Quote:
Commentary by John Rawling, Jim Proudfoot and Vassos Alexander, reports from Seema Jaswal and Danny Crates, analysis by Paul Nicholson and Deta Hedman, and special features with Bobby George.
With Ray Stubbs and George Riley not working the Lakeside possibly due to their other commitments, I'm surprised to hear that Jim Proudfoot will be part of the commentary team. As talkSPORT's lead football commentator, he has a tonne of potential matches to cover between January 7th and 15th - the talkSPORT stations will be covering seven or eight matches during FA Cup Third Round weekend, they then have both League Cup semi-final first leg ties that midweek (usually he and Sam Matterface would get a semi-final each) and as the station's regular Sunday 1.30pm commentator, you'd expect him to be covering Everton v Manchester City on January 15th. Additionally, he's likely to be commentating for the Premier League's television international feed on whichever game Sky Sports pick as their 3pm game in the Republic of Ireland on Saturday 14th. So either Jim will be greatly scaling back his football commitments during one of the busiest weeks of the season (which he hasn't in previous years, he would miss semi-final Saturday in the days when his only regular football gig was as Absolute Radio's Saturday 3pm Premier League commentator) or he'll be a bit-part player at the Lakeside. |

It's a shame that Ray Stubbs won't be involved in BT Sport's BDO World Darts Championship coverage next month - I can only imagine this was either BT Sport's call or his own personal decision. I doubt talkSPORT would have stood in his way, seeing as they always let Colin Murray take a week or so off in January to cover the Lakeside for BBC TV during his three-year stint on the station.

The team of Jim, John Rawling and Vassos Alexander is a very strong one and probably the best since David Croft moved to Sky. Tony Green has rightly retired or been retired but I was glad he got to see out the last of the BBC's 39 years association with the BDO. |

My post 5777 was referring to the shorter promo. There is also a longer promo which goes into more detail and covers many more events (including the likes of NFL, GAA and Netball) - this promo does say "all four majors". I still remain very suspicious - principally because there hasn't been any announcement re the rights renewal - not just from Sky but not from the PGA of America either. But we'll obviously just have to wait and see. It's probably most likely that Sky will ultimately renew as no other pay broadcaster shows any significant golf (and FTA seems unlikely) - but the same might well have been thought about Australian cricket - so anything is possible. |

Watching a fair chunk of the tourny and Mark Dudbridge I seen I think 2 days of the entire coverage. I'm sure not used at all after Xmas. Weird one. Expected when mentioned he'd feature a bit more.

Dudbridge took Eric Bristow's old job which was primarily as a spotter, i am guessing he was doing that
Was noticeable that there was a few more stray camera shots on the occasion. Maybe missing Bristow in that spotter role. |

PGA Tour Golf: Tournament of Champions - SS4
James Haddock introducing/presenting (off-screen) Commentary: Rich Lerner, Frank Nobilo & David Feherty Tower: Curt Byrum On-Course: Mark Rolfing, Billy Ray Brown, Jerry Foltz & David Feherty (Weekend) Reporter: Todd Lewis (All as Golf Channel) Really worrying that the PGA Tournament of Champions event is being continuity announced by James Haddock with no studio (Al La David Fulton on the foreign cricket). I know it is a 11pm start but it isn't a 3am start like the CIMB... Last year they had a studio in London and Tim Barter across there for this event. It has a lot of the big guns there. Very poor to see. .On a side note - their caption with their 2017 coverage, only references the 3 men's majors - so no deal done. |

But that video is obviously wrong - given that, as you say, the caption subsequently put up misses it out. Surely they should have taken the trouble to amend the promo video. One other minor point - they say they're showing all five women's majors - well note that one of those majors is now organised by the PGA of America - the Womens PGA Championship - which was formerly the LPGA Championship - but it transferred from the LPGA to the PGA a couple of years ago. Now maybe Sky does actually have the rights to the Womens PGA Championship under their old contract with the LPGA - but if they don't - and presumably the rights are now being sold by the PGA - well if that's the case then in fact they might not have the rights to the Womens PGA Championship. (Just as they won't currently have the rights to the PGA Seniors Championship - as that's also under the same contract as the PGA Championship). |
