Christ I completely missed this. Not helped by it not being listed on the Sky Sports website, which hasn't listed anything for next week either.

Thanks for the info!

Is this the first game that Network Ten took the rights away from Channel Seven then?

its been off Seven for a couple of years now, The Tri-nations or what ever its called now has been on channel 9 the last couple of years. 9 already has the NRL and they really did not put much effort into their rugby coverage they pretty much were just relaying Fox Sports coverage towards the end and the ratings were just not there. 10 really don't have anything since they lost the AFL rights so they will probably make the most out of it

Saturday 10th November - BBC One

Autumn International: Wales v Argentina

John Inverdale presented from the Millennium Stadium alongside Stephen Jones and Jeremy Guscott

Commentators: Alastair Eykyn and Jonathan Davies

Reporter: Jill Douglas, joined by Martyn Williams for pitchside analysis

Did BBCi offer any alternative audio options (Radio Wales, Radio Cymru etc) on the red button? And is it correct that Friday's Wales v Samoa match won't be on Freeview outside of Wales? The listings seem to suggest it won't be, with Track Cycling due to take priority on 301 and a "normal" schedule on BBC Two outside of Wales.

Looks like the Bangladesh v West Indies series will be available free to air on Sky channel 834. Just came across it in the schedules, and although it's not the most thrilling of series, hopefully they don't encrypt the channel before Wednesday.

yeah that channel is free, it is one of the bangladeshi channels, it had the bangladesh premier league last year, also don't expect good coverage, with lot of blacked out adverts during the play, and lots of adverts, they use the same feed they do in the subcontinent, they don't use the clean feed.

I don't have Sky so haven't been able to catch any of their coverage so above is the details of the BBC coverage of their games everyday for the last week. As you can see Castle & Henman were the main pairing for most days with Jonathan Overend & Pat Cash doing one day between them

good article on Commentary team around the world.
some quotes that stand out.
Quote:
“While a limited knowledge of players from associate nations is perhaps justifiable, how often in a commentary stint do you hear a commentator say “I have not seen much of this guy”. In the days of satellite sports channels and YouTube videos for a professional sports journalist to tell his audience that he has not seen a player who has played 20 Tests is ridiculous. If your place in the commentary box is guaranteed by virtue of your celebrity status, why would you spend your time carrying out research?”

this is what I hate about commentary teams now, they just don't do research anymore, all of them are guilty of this, Channel 9 didn't know peterson was a good player, Sky boys thought Philander was ordinary and a poor batsman even though he averages 25 with the bat in first class cricket.
Artherton even admit of not seeing much of ross Taylor before this year World T20, and this is guy that has played 41 test and 116 ODI.

I disagree with you here, there are a lot of people I know around the county circuit who think Petersen is not much more than ordinary and that's even after they've seen quite a bit of him.

There's also a decent number of people who think Philander is flattered a bit by his figures and benefits from the attack around him.

I'm not saying either opinion is right or wrong, just that they are not isolated opinions

Don't have every single match but to summarise, Marcus Buckland presented, with commentary from Mark Petchey, Peter Fleming, Boris Becker (those three ddoing tonight's final), Greg Rusedski, Barry Millns, Barry Cowan, Leif Shiras, and for doubles, Ross Hutchings

Annabel Croft was in the studio all week, with Becker, Rusedski and Fleming being in there too (three at a time). Croft or Shiras normally did the pre-match interviews

yeah I know lots of people that call these people ordinary, But i think people need to stop calling them Ordinary or get shocked when they do good.
Peterson may not have the best shots or his the most talented batsman but he does do his job, really well and an average of 42 is very good.
Philander is a odd one, the south african selectors in the past assumed this guy bowls too Slow for Test cricket and looks ordinary, but this guy has had phenomenal success in Test cricket and has the best record in First class cricket in South Africa with a average of 20.

Sunday 11th November - BBC Two Wales

Scrum V

Ross Harries presented alongside Robert Jones and Shane Howarth

Autumn Internationals
Wales v Argentina - Alastair Eykyn and Jonathan Davies, with Jill Douglas conducting post-match interviews
Scotland v New Zealand - Andrew Cotter and Jonathan Davies
England v Fiji - Andrew Cotter and Brian Moore
Ireland v South Africa - Eddie Butler and Philip Matthews

Feature on Russia v USA and Canada v Samoa from Colwyn Bay - Ross Harries reporting, with commentary on the latter game from Phil Steele

There was a recorded link-up between Jonathan Davies at Murrayfield and Ross Harries in the studio after the Scotland edit, with Jiffy providing his reaction to both that game and Wales v Argentina. There was also a feature reuniting Gareth Edwards and Barry John on the 45th anniversary of them first playing for Wales together against New Zealand in 1967 (there was archive footage of that game, commentary coming from I think Cliff Morgan).

Naturally the Wales v Argentina game was the main focus, with a ten minute edit and about ten minutes of interviews and reaction. Highlights of the other Autumn Internationals were trys edits, with the clocks left in, RTE's graphics on the Ireland game and the BBC Three dog left on the England game, which looked a bit sloppy. Highlights on the Canada v Samoa edit were credited to the IRB and Proactive.

Monday 12th October - BBC Red Button and BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

5 Live NFL with Darren Fletcher and Rocky Boiman (in London)

American Football: Monday Night Football
Kansas City Chiefs @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden, with Lisa Salters on the sidelines (as ESPN)

BBC TV have introduced a new set-up for their Red Button coverage of the NFL's Monday Night Football. Coverage is now being simulcast on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, with the 5 Live NFL studio coverage being introduced on the Red Button during the breaks in play. From watching the Red Button's coverage back on the iPlayer, Darren and Rocky were on camera in a studio similar to the one Channel 4 and 5 have used for their coverage of American sports (albeit slightly more basic looking) doing the usual kind of studio inserts we hear on 5 Live NFL and indeed on those channel's NFL coverage. 5LSE simulcast their audio straight from the Red Button, including the ESPN television commentary rather than using a radio feed. It is the first time they have done this and made for an interesting listen. It is another good move by Radio 5 Live Sports Extra in my opinion.

Friday 16th November - BBC Two Wales and BBCi

Scrum V Live: Wales v Samoa

Ross Harries presenting from the Millennium Stadium alongside Shane Howarth and Gareth Thomas, with Sean Holley in the analysis truck

Commentators: Gareth Charles and Jonathan Davies

Reporter: Phil Steele

The studio team were joined by Jonathan at pitchside during the half hour build-up. I didn't catch all of the pre-match features but of the ones I saw, Jed Thian from the Alternative Rugby Commentary fame did a satirical take on Samoan rugby. Jed has been used on the alternative Fanscene Red Button commentaries on Friday night Autumn Internationals in past seasons. I'm not sure about this as the game isn't on Freeview's Red Button , but I don't think there is the usual alternative Welsh language and RedZone commentaries available via the Red Button tonight.
