What a gutting way to end the Autumn Internationals if you are a Scotland fan. At least I didn't have to hear Guscott and Moore.

Sunday 2nd December - BBC Two Wales

Scrum V

Ross Harries presented alongside Robert Jones, Martyn Williams and Sean Holley

Autumn Internationals
Wales v Australia - Eddie Butler and Brian Moore, with Sonja McLaughlan and S4C's Dot Davies conducting post-match interviews
England v New Zealand - Andrew Cotter and Lawrence Dallaglio, with Non Evans introducing the commentary bit of the edit

RaboDirect Pro12
Ospreys v Cardiff Blues - Gareth Charles and Jonathan Davies
Scarlets v Ulster - Gareth Rhys Owen
Round-up (including Treviso v Newport Gwent Dragons either side of his links during the above two edits) - Phil Steele (reporting)

Retrospective on the Wales series entitled "Autumn: the season of decay" - Eddie Butler
Alternative Wales series retrospective entitled "A Kiwi's long goodbye to Wales" - Jed Thian

For those keeping score, they had about 25 minutes on the Wales game (an edit of around 10 minutes with about 15 minutes of introductions, interviews and reaction), just over five minutes on England, about five minutes on the regions and the rest of the programme was devoted to retrospectives on the series, including one of Eddie's ever-popular artily-voiced reports and a more comical take from Jed Thian to close the show. Both International edits had their scorebars including the clocks and, in England's case, the BBC Three dog, left in.

What with it being European rugby over the next two weekends before the Christmas period, I think that was the last Scrum V of 2012. I just wanted to comment on what a good show Scrum V has become this season, some of the featured reports both on the domestic and international programmes have been excellent, but despite the standard of features improving it has also become more of a solid highlights show with longer edits than we have seen in past seasons. I also think the quality of the punditry is really high, Sean Holley in particular is proving to be one of the best analysts on TV - the way he breaks the game down and explains various key plays in an understandable but detailed manner has been a revelation. Hopefully they can keep this up in the new year when, touch wood, Wales will return to their best form.

One for the baseball fans on here, ESPN have announced their successor to Terry Francona (who left the broadcaster to manage the Cleveland Indians) who will join Dan Shulman and Orel Hershiser in their three-man Sunday Night Baseball commentary booth. They have recruited from within, as long-time Baseball Tonight pundit John Kruk moves from the studio to the booth.

Quote:
“ESPN’s John Kruk Joins Sunday Night Baseball

ESPN’s John Kruk will join Sunday Night Baseball – the exclusive national Major League Baseball game of the week – as an analyst beginning in the 2013 season. Kruk, who has served as a Baseball Tonight studio analyst since joining ESPN in 2004, will team up with NSSA Sportscaster of the Year Dan Shulman and analyst Orel Hershiser to form the new Sunday Night booth. The trio is also joined by reporter Buster Olney.

“It’s a real honor to work with Dan and Orel, and to be front and center on baseball’s biggest game of the week,” said Kruk. “When I was asked to join the team, I couldn’t have been happier.”

Kruk has served as a guest analyst for ESPN’s MLB game telecasts over the years, including Sunday Night Baseball. Additionally, he’s contributed to the network’s coverage of the State Farm Home Run Derby, Little League World Series and Rawlings Gold Glove Awards Show.

Mike McQuade, ESPN Vice President, Production, added, “Kruk has every attribute that makes an analyst great. He’s intelligent, he’s opinionated, he brings a ton of personality and his track record at ESPN speaks for itself.”

Kruk played 10 MLB seasons (1986-1995) as a first baseman and outfielder with the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox. He was a three-time All-Star and finished his career with a .300 batting average and 100 home runs.

“I always admired the way John competed on the field, and every time I’ve been on Baseball Tonight with him, I’ve been impressed with his depth of knowledge about the game,” said Sunday Night’s Orel Hershiser. “Now I’m looking forward to sitting next to him every Sunday Night.”

“Krukkie is funny, knowledgeable and passionate about baseball,” said Dan Shulman. “I think he and Orel will make a terrific analyst combo in the booth, and I can’t wait for the three of us getting started.”

Sunday Night Baseball airs at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and via WatchESPN during the MLB season.”

The above is ESPN's official press release, which I would provide a link to but for some reason Digital Spy starred out part of the web address when I tried doing so.

In other baseball commentary news, Jim Deshaies has left the Houston Astros to become the Chicago Cubs' colour commentator on WGN-TV. He replaces Bob Brenly, who left the Cubs at the end of the season to become colour commentator at the team he managed to the 2001 World Series, the Arizona Diamondbacks. This week, the late Tom Cheek won the Ford C. Frick Award (which places an outstanding commentator into Major League Baseball's Hall of Fame) for his work on the Toronto Blue Jays radio broadcasts between 1976 and 2004.

I'm not sure about Kruk; I've never been wild about him. But then, I'm not sure there's anyone currently employed by ESPN whom I'd have gone for.

I've never even knew Loaded had a TV channel (not that I'm in that particular 'market')

Rose versus Webb will be FREE to view on the new Loaded TV channel available on Sky channel 200. The contest will be shown at 9.30pm and, therefore, anyone who isn’t able to make the Winter Gardens can now watch, what promises to be a potential fight of the year, for FREE.

Australia vs South Africa (3 test series)

Presenter: Ian Ward

Pundits: Ian Harvey (and some others who I cannot for the life of me remember)

Commentators (Channel 9): Mark Taylor, Michael Slater, Ian Healy, Ian Chappell, Mark Nicholas, Richie Benaud (tests 1&2), Bill Lawry (tests 2&3), Glenn McGrath (test 1), Tom Moody (test 3) and Brett Lee (various guest comm spots)

No Tony Greig, because of his battle with cancer, or Shane Warne due to his big bash commitments (though he found time to cover an India vs. England test).

Having listened a fair bit I would say nine suffer from not having a touring expert and three commentators in the box still isn't working for me.

Supersport also sent their own commentary team which was

Commentators: Pommie Mbangwa, Kepler Wessels, HD Ackerman, Mike Haysman, Tom Moody and Mark Nicholas

Apologies for the lateness but only just seen this.

Willie not being used on the semis or the final at all suggests he is really not flavour of the month at the moment. Anybody know if there is any particular issue there?
