I am sure he missed the first weekend of Heineken Cup
Which of course clashed with a GP.
Ah ok, I'm guessing that was the weekend they were all in Brazil then.

With Rob Walker due at the Alexandra Palace to begin his MC duties at The Masters snooker and Nat Coombs scheduled to present Radio 5 Live Sports Extra's NFL coverage, it'll be interesting to see who BBC Two use as their reporter on their coverage of tomorrow's final. Perhaps it will be whichever commentator it is that misses out on a seat in the commentary box, or maybe they'll just decide against having one like they did last year.
Rob got the boys on the baize in this afternoon then headed back to the Lakeside for interviewing duties. David Croft partnered by Tony Green for the first six sets and then Vassos Alexander to the finish.

I guess Hazel Irvine or John Parrot MCed the snooker this evening, can't confirm if they said 'He's on Fire- he's Stephen Maguire!'

Enjoy the retirement Tony Green. I don't know why, but I burst into laughter when there was a shot of someone wearing a flat Cap, with Tony saying 'Even the Greyhound trainers are here'.

Sunday 15th January - BBC Two

BDO World Professional Darts Championship Final: Tony O'Shea v Christian Kist

Colin Murray presented from the Lakeside Country Club alongside Bobby George

Commentators: David Croft (whole match) with Tony Green (sets 1 to 6) and Vassos Alexander (set 7 onwards)

Reporter: Rob Walker, with Niels de Ruiter translating Kist's post-match interview

It was good how all three commentators got to call some part of the final and that Rob Walker got to be involved in their coverage of it after all. Also a nice touch by Tony Green (who I don't believe is retiring Ian) to send his well wishes to Sid Waddell during his leg of the final.

Besides AFL (and I maybe wrong on that) there can't be many sports that Fox cover which Warren Smith hasn't worked on yet!

Are you sure? That's when I heard it, that he would be retiring when David gave out a 'get well' to Sid Wadell.

I must have missed that bit, I know David said something about Tony returning to the commentary box after his illness last year but might have missed that reference. If that's the case then it's the first I've heard of it, he must have kept it quiet although I haven't watched much of the coverage until this weekend so it might have been mentioned before tonight. Good luck in your retirement Tony.

I think you may have misunderstood him Ian. He said he was only doing the first 6 sets and Crofty said to him "go put your feet up you deserve it". No mention of retiring though

It may have been that then, as when he (David Croft) said something along the lines of 'what will you do in your time off', I went 'Ooh, is he retiring then?', and then I heard them both talking over each other, and finally heard David Croft tell him, as you say, to go and put his feet up.

I guess them talking over each other must have lead to me missing what had been said too, thanks for the clarification Darren.

Has anyone heard the brilliant Simon Holt on ATR or RUK recently. He hasn't been on channel 4 racing for last few weeks and is not down for tomorrow according to the EPG. Obviosuly could just be on a long holiday but did read something somewhere about a twitter comment he apparently made, hope its not got him into trouble?

It was THIS but they did make a joke out of it on "The Morning Line" and pointed out at the time that he was on holiday abroad so I wouldn't read anything into his absence currently.

Andy's right, he normally takes a holiday around this time of the year. I would expect him to be back around Trials Day at Cheltenham next weekend.

Incidently for anyone who's interested I believe @SimonHolt3 is his actual Twitter account

Willie Thorne's brother, Malcolm, died from cancer last week, which probably explains Willie's absence from the BBC's Masters coverage.

That's going some because he died in January 2011.
