I thought reading, or early indications show heart attack was likely to be connected from the cancer. Common thing too.

Similar thing happened with the broadcaster and Factory Records supremo Tony Wilson a few years ago; he died of a heart attack whilst undergoing treatment for cancer.

I imagine it's one of those medical/legal descriptions. Whilst the cancer was probably a cause of the heart attack, it was the heart attack itself that was responsible for his death.

Either way a unique person has been lost from cricket and broadcasting as a whole, there is an excellent piece here with a few videos of Greig at his best.

Dave Lanning will be making a one-off return to Sky's darts coverage tomorrow, commentating on the 3D coverage of the battle to win the Sid Waddell trophy.

Interesting- Will one of the main commentators drop out or will they have an extra man in the box?

I presume Studd and Mardle will do the main coverage of the final as they sadly seem to be the main pair now. Mardle in particular is shocking.

Mardle hasn't grew on me at all. Didn't like him, gave him his chance and not for me.

Nigel Pearson is my favourite on the darts. Pearson, Gwynne and Pyke 3 man team would be good.

Last night they kept rotating on the semi's so probably will hear Mardle, Studd, Gwynne and Pyke all on main coverage of the final.

The best thing about having Mardle there is Bristow's constant digs at him

Jeff Stelling. David Bobin also did a World Championship and Gary Newbon was the original host of the Premier League.

Didn't have time to post the semi-final comms so......

Wade vs. van Gerwen : Stuart Pyke & John Gwynne
Taylor vs. van Barneveld : Rod Studd & Wayne Mardle

I was really disappointed to have Studd and Mardle doing the main quarter and semi-final. Mardle has grown on me a bit but Studd can become a bit Peter Drury-esque sometimes and he glamourises darts to something which it isn't. I pray that Sky make the right decision and don't put Studd on the final in place of the excellent John Gwynne, who is the best they've got but in recent tournaments, he has been overlooked for the big matches. I hope that we have 3 commentators for the HD and SD coverage. According to Twitter, it appears that Pearson and Pyke will both be covering the match in some form.

I would like:

HD and SD : John Gwynne, Stuart Pyke & Nigel Pearson
3D : Sets 1-5 : Rod Studd & Wayne Mardle
Sets 5-End : Rod Studd & Dave Lanning

Rod Studd also did a bit of Wade and Van Gerwen, Gwynne did a bit of Taylor and Van Barneveld on HD.

I didn't know that but according to his twitter Crofty was there for Murussia Christmas Night out and a night himself with Johnny Herbert and Sky must of asked him to do a turn in the commentary box like they did with Flintoff and Fry previously. The last nights he said hes been commentating at home in the ear of his wife.

Its a shame the best darts commentators are either sat at home watching or on Sky 3D.

I must admit, and I never EVER thought I would say this, but Mardle has really started to grow on me. He shows respect to all players and to the BDO. He certainly isn't one of the puppets that think darts starts and ends with the PDC.

I agree with this, I like Mardle but he should be in the studio as main analyst and not commentator but his balanced views are no suprise as he came through the BDO. I still love the BDO because it was my first Darts tournament I ever watched and the BDO is the grassroots of Darts, perhaps the Lakeside should be called the Amateur World Championships but I equally look forward to both PDC and BDO tournaments and long may they both reign
