Friday 8th February - BBC Two Wales and BBCi

Scrum V Live: Ulster v Ospreys

Ross Harries presenting from the studio alongside Lyn Jones and Tom Shanklin

Commentators: Nick Webb and Stuart Davies

Red button commentators: Rick O'Shea, Jed Thian and Paul Williams with the RedZone; Gareth Rhys Owen and Rhodri Gomer Davies in Welsh

Reporter: Phil Steele

Great to have Jed Thian from the Alternative Rugby Commentary back on the RedZone. Also, a rare outing for Nick Webb (and Stuart Davies for that matter) in the main commentary box; obviously Charlo (and the two regular co-commentators) will be out in France.
Forgot to post this but over on BBC2 NI
Presenter: Stephen Watson
With: Tony McWhirter & Maurice Field
Commentators: Jim Neilly & Ryan Constable
Reporter: Gavin Andrews

Presenter: John Inverdale
With: Keith Wood, Jonathan Davies & Jeremy Guscott
Commentators: Eddie Butler, Brian Moore & Phillip Matthews

Ireland v England - RTE Two & RTE Two HD

It said on the graphic Matthews was pitchside but he was commentating with Butler and Moore on the BBC.

Matthews was pitchside today though... Although nt with McLaughlan... He wasn't sitting in the box...

Today was the story of too many cooks... Fair enough use the talent but I think having Nicol chip in twice each half in his booth it was a bit pointless and a 'too many voices'.

I thought the 3 man team got rid of the stupid analyst role which doesn't work aswell in Rugby as other sports. Matthews did commentate whether he was in the box or not which is why I included him in the commentators for today but thanks for clearing that up mate.

Does anybody else hate Brian Moore on commentary? I find home a complete buffoon and would much rather any of the other co-commentators the BBC have would be used on England games for a change.

Agreed, I get the point of using Matthews and Moore (like them both), but, I would say in general I don't think 3 men in a commentary box works. There is too much talking and it is extremely rare that one of them says something that one co-commentator alone would have missed.

I would add that having Dallaglio with Andy Nicol for the Scot vs Italy game seemed like a pointless exercise in trying to use as many "BIG NAMES" as possible.

For the European Tour Sky almost exclusively use their own feed.

Depending on the tournament and where it is they may have the commentators on site or off tube, but it is almost always their own feed as supposed to the European Tour Productions feed.
Thanks for the reply

Forgot to say RTE Reporter was Clare McNamara as they used a reporter at all Ireland matches.

What are the BCCI like! They are losing friends in the cricket community by the minute!

Friday 15th February - BBC Two Wales

Scrum V Live: Newport Gwent Dragons v Glasgow Warriors

Ross Harries presenting from Rodney Parade alongside Martyn Williams, with Sean Holley in the analysis truck

Commentators: Gareth Charles and Robert Jones

Reporter: Phil Steele

There are no red button alternative commentary options this evening, I presume this is due to how both the Welsh Open snooker and 6 Music Live have been occupying BBCi's attention this week.

Loaded Fight Live- Dom McGuinness hosted. Commentary from Andy Scott and Jamie Moore. They missed the start of the main event due to technical problems and the production values were piss-poor, but at least it was there to be seen.

Scarlets V Munster (RaboDirect Pro12 RU)

S4C - Gareth Roberts hosting form Parc y sgarlets with Gareth Davies and Emyr Lewis as analysts. Commentary came from Dr. Gwyn Jones and Brynmor Williams with Dot Davies interviewer.

Gareth Rhys Owen and Tom Shanklin were Red Button English language commentators, with Gareth also doing a piece about him spending some days with the Scarlets squad on a team-bonding exercise in Pembrokeshire somewhere. Sadly, you didn't get to see him go on the zip wire-thingy.
