Any particular reason there was no Brian Moore co-commentating today?

He did the Ireland game yesterday, plus they are using their 'fake-Italian as i've got the the surename to balance things with the studio but actually I'm English' pundit today. Lawrence Dallaglio is decent enough mind you, certinaly not overly biast.

Next Saturday screams 3 headed Butler, Moore and Davies commentary trio for the title clincher... Butler keeping neutral then Davies cheer leading Wales and Moore criticising England at every chance. awful.

He was getting particularly irate at being critiqued on twitter last night. Is it me or do these rugby chaps love making their snide little comments at football and footballers, but can't tie much criticism themselves?

I think your right it will be Butler, Moore & Davies or maybe Martyn Williams for the BBC next Saturday. For the biggest match of this years tournament it would be suprising if they didn't have 3 men in the box. I think the Italy v Ireland match has Conor McNamara in the box for his annual last day 6 Nations TV match for the BBC and he probably will be reuniting with Phillip Matthews as they commentated together for the Rugby World Cup on TV3 Ireland in 2007 the only time TV3 covered the tournament as the rest have been on RTE and France v Scotland will probably be Andrew Cotter with Andy Nicol or Chris Paterson.

I think the 3 man commentary has worked well this year and is better than the analyst role which doesn't work in Rugby or being pitchside with the BBC reporter and speaking every 15 minutes and while the 3rd man in the box doesn't speak that much I just feel it works better.

3 men commentary still has some room for improvement. The three men had even-ish commentary for Wales v Scotland, but for Ireland v France it was Butler & Moore and then Matthews every 5 minutes.

Italy-Ireland will be like Italy-Scotland last year. Jason Mohammad Presenting & Pitchside reporting probably with Keith Wood, McNamara and Matthews. Basic coverage possible. Game over > bugger off!

Similarily for France-Scotland. Gabby Logan with Nicol or Paterson (maybe Thomas Castaignède) and Cotter/Nicol or Paterson commentary, Jill Douglas pitchside... Basic(ish).

All the eggs (understandably) on Wal v Eng. However surely it will be overload central. Davies, Moore, Williams, Guscott, Woodward probably all-involved in the Anglowelsh match.

Sky use Gower for the Sky Sports promo for New Zealand tour
but he's not presenting or commentating and we have to make do with Nick Shyte.http://www1.skysports.com/watch/vide...good-night-out
Sky really do make some awful choices like Nick Halling main boxing commentator over the vastly superior Adam Smith.
And the biggest clanger of the lot picking Rob Hawthorne instead of Martin Tyler for Champions League Final in 2005
I thought Halling had improved a lot on the boxing. He seems to be more comfortable with it now, and doesn't miss things like he did at the start.

supersport won't have any pakistani commentator for the odi series, since Rameez Raja works for Star sports.
quote from pakpassion.
Spoke with Aamir Sohail arlier today.

He's had some other commitments in Pakistan which means that he won't be commentating during the one day series in South Africa.

Sunday 10th March - BBC Two Wales

Scrum V: Six Nations Special

Jason Mohammad presented alongside Martyn Williams, Andy Robinson, Gwyn Jones and Robert Jones, with Lisa Rogers and Mark Taylor in the audience and Sean Holley in the "Stat Pad"

Scotland v Wales - Andrew Cotter and Jonathan Davies, with Jill Douglas conducting post-match interviews
Ireland v France - Eddie Butler and Brian Moore
England v Italy - Eddie Butler and Lawrence Dallaglio, with Rick O'Shea reporting from Twickenham

Scotland Under-20s v Wales Under-20s - Ross Harries and Ian Gough, with Non Evans voicing parts of the edit
Wales Under-18s v England Under-18s - Non Evans (reporting)

The Lions Den - Andy Robinson picked his Lions XV, with his choices being voiced by Phil Steele

Scrum V used S4C's English language Red Button commentary on their Wales Under-20s edit. They also had interviews with Rob Howley and Sam Warburton from Sunday's press conference from The Vale of Glamorgan Hotel after their main Scotland v Wales edit, although I'm not sure who conducted those interviews (it wasn't Ross Harries as has been the case in previous weeks).

Yes. Schiavello is quite the comentator, a sort of Australian mix of Sid Waddell and Jonathan Pearce. Would be awful for some sports but works really well for MMA.

Tuesday 12th to Friday 15th March - Channel 4

Channel 4 Racing: Cheltenham Festival

Presenters: Clare Balding on the course with Nick Luck in the studio

Pundits: Graham Cunningham, Mick Fitzgerald, Jim McGrath and Ted Walsh

Commentator: Simon Holt

Reporters: Alice Plunkett and Rishi Persad

Also: Tanya Stevenson with the betting and Alastair Down with preview pieces

Those are the details I've gathered from watching Channel 4's live coverage and the names mentioned in the channel's press release. Was there anyone used on The Morning Line or the highlights shows who I have missed?

Apart from the odd jockey, I saw Gareth O'Brien who hosts Irish racing on At The Races.

Italy v Ireland

Jason Mohammad with Marco Bortolami and Keith Wood.
Comms: Conor McNamara and Philip Matthews

McNamara's player identification is shocking today, He strings couple of names then rattles of some facts or inane stuff from 'last year' during good play, which I don't want to hear while there is a break in play / attack / phases.

They've both had a poor game so far, how Matthews could say the Italian was making a meal out of being stamped by BOD I'll never know!

I don't wish to be overly mean but when does he ever have a good game? I find Matthews so one-sided whenever Ireland are on the wrong end of the scoreline or a decision. For all the criticism Moore and Davies receive on here, I feel that in comparison he gets a bit of a free ride when surely his sympathies are just as obvious if not more so.

If you can feel sorry for someone who's landed a trip to Rome, I feel a bit sorry for Jason Mohammad in being sent to this game rather than Wales v England, where I'm sure he'd rather be today. Surely they could have sent someone else to host this and found a reporting role for Jason at the Millennium Stadium, perhaps doing something for tomorrow's Scrum V? Indeed I was half-expecting Jason to be involved in BBC Wales' in-house Comic Relief efforts (as I seem to remember them having short opt-out slots from the network once) which might have forced their hand into doing something similar to what I've suggested.

By the way, thanks for the Channel 4 Racing details Alex and Ian.

Yeah Matthews, not brilliant either today. Matthews is usually leans a bit in Irish favour, but is decent/subtle enough, compared to Davies/Moore.

However at times Matthews is still carrying McNamara. Not good overall though.
