Does anyone know the commentators for the Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh test series? I've heard Neil Manthorp but I don't recognise any others at all.

An interesting development from the RaboDirect Pro12. The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Sky Sports have picked up rights to the league from 2014/15, although their deal will not supersede the existing one with the country-specific broadcasters in the Celtic nations. Quote:
RaboDirect Pro12 boosted with Sky Sports television deal This report has subsequently been confirmed by Sky Sports themselves: http://www1.skysports.com/rugby-unio...boDirect-Pro12The RaboDirect Pro12 league, fresh from contributing 24 of the 37 players named in the British and Irish Lions squad, is expected to receive a further boost on Thursday with the announcement of a lucrative new television deal with Sky Sports, Telegraph Sport understands. It is expected that under a new four-year deal with the satellite broadcaster, which will begin for the 2014-15 season, 30 games a season will be shown on Saturdays. It will mark an increase of more than 50 per cent on existing television revenues, which are shared between the Welsh, Scottish and Irish Unions. The Pro12 currently has agreements with regional broadcasters BBC ALBA, BBC Northern Ireland, RTE, TG4, BBC Wales and S4C, but it is thought that the new Sky deal will be an addition to those contracts and not replace them. That will not only ensure that the tournament is broadcast nationwide for the first time but also result in 125 of the 135 games being televised live. Sky Sports will also gain the rights to broadcast the semi-finals and finals live, in conjunction with the territorial broadcaster where those games take place. The move comes after Sky Sports lost the rights to broadcast the Aviva Premiership from next season to BT Vision and underlines the growing strength of the Pro12 both commercially and in terms of audience figures. The competition is expecting a total of 1.2 million spectators this season, an increase of 100,000 from last season, while viewing figures are also up by around 25 per cent. Read more: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rug...sion-deal.html I'm hoping this doesn't affect the UK-wide showings of Pro12 games on the Red Button and the BBC Sport website - would it still be possible for Sky to "block" the BBC Two regions' screenings of live games on their platform as I believe they used to do with BBC Scotland's coverage of football's Scottish Cup? It is worth noting that the existing deals BBCs Wales, Northern Ireland and Alba, S4C, RTE and TG4 have with Celtic Rugby are four-year deals that expire at the end of next season. The Telegraph article states the Sky deal will not replace their coverage but I wonder if, should this deal prove a successful one for them, Sky will be looking to win exclusive rights to the league come the start of the next rights cycle in 2018. |

The BBC News website has this report on the future of Pro12 rugby union on BBC Wales, Northern Ireland and Alba from 2014/15 onwards. It doesn't sound quiet as promising as The Daily Telegraph's initial report did regarding Sky being happy to share live rights with the BBC, S4C, RTE and TG4. Quote:
Rugby on TV: BBC hopes to hold on to Pro12 rights I'll be interested to see who Sky Sports bring in to work on their coverage of the Pro12 in just over a year's time. Bob Symonds and Scott Quinnell aside, they don't have much of a Welsh representation on their Heineken Cup coverage for a start. Maybe they might bring in John Davies from Sky Sports News, who is the host of their Welsh international football coverage, or now that ESPN's rugby union coverage is coming to an end perhaps Sarra Elgan (once of S4C's Y Clwb Rygbi) could be an option. Not being a Radio Wales Drivetime listener, I'd quite like to see Gareth Lewis returning to rugby coverage as I thought he was a great host of Scrum V. You'd have to imagine that Scrum V's bigger names will stay put, even if BBC Wales does lose live Pro12 rights.
The BBC says it is still hopeful it will be able to show Pro12 rugby union after Sky secured live rights to the competition from 2014. The satellite broadcaster's deal is thought to be non-exclusive, and the BBC is still negotiating with Celtic Rugby over the matter. The competition features the four Welsh regions, along with sides from Ireland, Scotland and Italy. Sky will show 30 live Saturday matches for the next four years. The broadcaster will also screen the competition's semi-finals and final. BBC Wales, BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Alba had been aware that the competition wanted both free-to-air and pay-TV broadcast partners, they said in a joint statement. "We were aware that Sky was going to make an announcement today but are not in a position to do so ourselves as negotiations with Celtic Rugby are ongoing," said the BBC statement. "However, we remain hopeful that a positive outcome can be reached soon, one which will allow us to continue to bring the Pro12 competition to the largest possible audience." The competition was originally formed as the Celtic League, including sides from Wales, Scotland and Ireland, with Italian teams joining at the start of the 2010-11 season. The tournament has been carried by BBC Wales since its inception in 2001. Read more: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-22390889 |

John Davies would have probably had more of a chance if Sky had got the Welsh Autumn internationals |

S4C - Gareth Roberts hosting studio coverage of Y Clwb Rygbi with Dafydd Jones and Brynmor Williams as analysts. Commentary is from Huw Llewellyn Davies and Dr. Gwyn Jones, with Dot Davies interviewing players. Gareth Rhys Owen is in some kind of OB truck (but with the dark blue blinds near him gives of an air of 'seedyness' ) updating viewers to other games.
