Did anyone see how Channel 5 dealt with the end to the cricket? Although the day would have ended before 8, I'm fairly sure Cook didn't lift the urn until after that, and there would have been precious little time to do interviews between the end of play and the start of the presentation ceremony.

Yeah it was terrible, something really should be done with Cricket especially Ashes for FTA.

Im guessing it would have looked odd, Channel 5 showing Atherton do the ceremony.

Here at Channel 5, we show you the highlights, but not what the whole of the last 25 days of tese cricket, was all for

If test cricket was on FTA telly then we probably wouldn't be celebrating an England Ashes win. It is because it is on Sky that the ECB have been able to invest in the counties so much.

Yes i no, im a Sky Customer, and i agree, but i still feel its unfair on those, who cant afford Sky, and have to put up with the coverage what they get given.

Same as Premier League football, Super League rugby league and many more sports. Not just cricket

I actually managed to see the end of the highlights on Channel 5 +1. The players went off, Mark Nicholas interviewed Alastair Cook and then said goodbye. There was no time for anything else.

Slightly surprised to hear Matt Floyd amongst the commentators on the Women's ODI that was on the red button today.

Pretty sure it was his first time on commentary as supposed to just presenting.

I think Channel 5 did a cracking job, they showed the whole story of the day despite it finishing only twenty minutes before the end of the highlights themselves. I don't think you could ask for a better terrestrial service. Here's a bit more detail on how they coped at the conclusion of the Durham test, a very similar scenario. http://www.theguardian.com/sport/201...ive-highlights

Would have been his first commentary, how was he? Nice to see sky giving an opportunity for a proffesional broadcaster to do commentary on cricket (though I am slightly surprised that they have done).

He was ok. Didn't really get to hear much of him on the highlights, but he didn't stand out straight away as being terrible, which is a decent sign

Who else commentated by the way? I know Nick Knight was there, saw him talking to one of the umpires on the main Sky coverage
