This is a great idea for a thread! I'd rather poke both my eyeballs out than watch the X Factor.

If you do that you will no longer be able to read Digital Spy!

I am anti-X Factor now, because Amelia Lily is no longer in the final.

I liked how X Factor gave us the best cover version of a song I've ever heard tonight.
Leona made Subo's Depeche Mode cover sound like an original song.

I hate it and everything it stands for. The most sickly, overly dramatic, false and nauseating show ever.
I cring every year at conversations I hear from the sheep who keep falling for it hook line and sinker.
It has nothing to do with finding a new star, it's all about lining the pockets of Syco and ITV.

It repulses me!!!

People don't seem to be able to see this, so they still vote at, what is it, £1.50? Lol and still buy the singles. By doing this, like you said, lining Syco's and Simon Cowell's pockets!!!

It is the most awful, cringeworthy, insipid pile of wank ever to be broadcast. Yet millions of gullible people continue to get sucked into it (including the media) and treat it as if it's genuinely a matter of great national importance, and many of them seem to actually believe that the show is about finding 'talent'. It's an embarrassment to the entertainment industry in every way.

I sort of agree with the consensus but last year's show just might have thrown up a bona fide, genuine and credible star - and she finished runner up. Time will tell.

Notice how you didnt say 'best female singers'
The X Factor finds puppets. It's like Gerry Anderson with people. If you look a girls like Laura Marling or Adele they are actually talented singers writing and singing their own songs not being prescribed covers as an excuse to make a buck

But leona and alexandra aren't puppets. The latter has left syco and has a new deal with RCA. she's making her own career. and alex slays adele in her sleep. I believe they are the best singers the UK has but I wasn't going to diss any of the other female vocalists we have. Leona needs to leave syco: no idea why she stays. Leona does write her own songs, she has co-writing credits. And alexandra's writing on her new album, so she says...and executively producing it as well. One direction, Cher lloyd, Matt Cardle and Rebecca F have all written/co-written their debuts, so you can't slag them all off. They want to have input in their careers. When alexandra and leona won, Syco were very forceful in regards to what they could do. Simon picked the tracklisting for their debuts etc. He didn't let them co-write because it's safer not to and never thought that...well...people can have a hand in their own careers.

It hardly finds puppets. It finds the average joe who knows nothing about being a businessman/woman and a recording artist. Misha B and Janet are hardly puppets, in fact they told the stylists and producers how it was going to work with their performances and styling. And its not that easy to write good songs, its quite hard. If you don't understand anything about music but are a phenomenal singer (whitney as an example) it shouldn't stop you from having a career. And adele went to the brit school along with Leona and Jessie J where they learned how to write songs and sing. Remember that.

Don't watch it then. I don't understand people who get so worked up about a show when they have numerous other channels they can watch.

While it wasn't a huge flop, Echo did underperform pretty much everywhere but the UK and sold only a fraction of what Spirit did.

The writing's on the wall for her to be honest. Her label can use the whole "scheduling additional recording sessions" as an excuse for putting Glassheart back all they want, but the truth is, they didn't want to release it on the back of an underperforming first single and in the busy christmas market out of fears that it would flop.

It's going to be interesting to see how her third album performs. I personally don't think she will ever achieve the success she did with Bleeding Love again.

Ok well if that's the case can you tell everyone the great songs that these non puppets have written?
Leona is largely a one album wonder. Bleeding love was written by someone else and Run was a cover. Yep she's pretty amazing.

I hate the concept of the X Factor, how manipulated & manufactured it is, but every year I sort of get sucked into it and end up watching. If you took away the overbearing producers, Simon Cowell and his restrictive contracts and focused a bit more on the genuinely talented acts rather than the ratings and controversy then you'd have the bare bones of something actually pretty good. The blanket dismissal of everything XF related is pretty annoying actually, when you consider that for every One Direction or Jedward you have someone like Rebecca Ferguson who is pretty talented in every department, and never managed to get the break that she needed. Idk, I think my view is to hate the format, not the contestants, and to give everyone an open mind once their music has been released.
