This is a very important point. Part of the learning to dance in SCD, a very important part, is building confidence. How can they progress when they are undermined so harshly that their feet are knocked from under them. I like Craig as a person but when on ITT he claimed this is what improved her performance I thought


Why did he then go on to say that he found another later performance "almost erotic"? In my opinion because he was backtracking and realised that there had been a strong reaction to this comment.
James was the one who improved her performance, and no-one can really deny that he was very supportive and kind towards Alex. Whatever else he does wrong, he did that right.
