New TV problem
I have a new 22" Samsung TV that I bought in july, however it sometimes keeps switching itself off!! I take it it isnt supposed to do this, has anyone else had similar problems? I paid £250 for this and expect better

It's still under warranty. Get it back to the retailer to have it sorted.

How is digital a con? You mean you don't understand what's happening?
I take it from your last comment that it's not switching itself off while viewing analogue? |

My region went fully digital in July so I was forced to buy a new TV plus DVD recorder as my VCR would no longer record (everything worked perfectly on analogue). It seems that Samsung is plagued with this problem of switching of by itself as I've googled this and they are no end of similar problems. Yesterday for instance, I spent an hour switching the TV back on every three minutes as that is how often it switches off!! Its going back this week! I had my previous TV, a portable Panasonic for 12 1/2 years with no problems and wish I could have kept it

Well a Freeview+ PVR for your old telly would have worked just as well: You could have still user your VCR to get the signals through to the RF in on the portable is it had no SCART input. Or you could even have bought, say the Freevire STB TVOnics MDR-252 or MDR-240 for your set-up at a fraction of the cost of a new telly and kept the VCR for recording from your Freeview STB My brother's 4:3 Sony analogue-tuner only is fine with a Panasonic HDD/DVD Recorder. And the sound on a Panny CRT is good too. My telly is around twenty years old and has had the tube replaces once since my other brother gave her to me when last decade. |

![]() I agree with Sue_Aitch. Why buy a new TV if you were happy with your old TV? Just buy a cheap set top box for your digital reception. Or go one step further and buy a PVR to replace the VCR. Either way your TV would remain the same... |
