Dave Arch and his singers

Am I going soft in the head? I thought they were terrific tonight. Harmonies on the Aretha number were gorgeous. Band amazing throughout.

Credit where it's due. I can't think that anything got butchered.

They are fantastic every week. I always think they should get more credit.

They would be preferable to some of the guest singers they have had on, like See Low Whathisname.

It would be nice if sometime during the series they were allowed to just do a number on their own.

I certainly think they have improved this series, even the singers have been OK whereas in previous series they have been really dire.

Always superb.

Although on Time After Time I think, it could have done with being been a couple of keys lower for the singer.

I really wish Bruce would vary that slightly, it just sounds so fake when he uses the exact same words each week.

However, the best dances last night were those where there was no wailing or screeching from any singers in his band which was such a relief and should continue like this.

Oi!

"Don't shoot the messenger!"

Your criticism should be addressed to the producers, who choose "the wailing and screeching songs" they ain't the band's choice!

You're missing my point. It's the singers I object to not necessarily their choice although that's dreadful as well.

We've done all this before, but you may not have read it.
Many of the songs they have to cover were originally written for the range of a particular singer, a "vocal athlete" or have the benefit of auto-tune, digital enhancements or were; "take 39! Silence!"

The band have one shot at it.

If the producers would only choose one of the hundreds and thousands of well loved dance tunes by the most respected composers of musical theatre and films, there'd be no problems, as they were written within a scale of not much more than an octave and a half, so that anyone could sing a long with them.

I'll finally end with what is my view and my view only. I'd rather have my dancers dancing to vocal-free tunes or melodies or whatever you'd care to call them.
Adding vocals does nothing to the dance experience for me. I just detracts from my enjoyment.
Simples!!

I don't disagree with you, it's the producers choice to include vocals, props, guests, silly VTs, so called celebrity guests on ITT. It's a show not a proper competition.

Agree. I think they do a fabulous job and really enjoy their versions of some of my very favourtie songs.

Well done.

they are great.

i am always totally perplexed by people who seem to want their music only in the narrow, pre packaged format they are used to.

live music isn't like that. at least, real music isn't. much like dance, its an art created in the moment.

Hmm..

Art is in the eye of the beholder and if we are relating music on the show to art, we've had a few Jackson Pollocks in a landscape gallery.
