Would Little Mix have got to the final without the 'weight sob story'?

And yet, even on here, the amount of threads/nasty comments about that girl being "fat" were crazy! I even read one thread (not on here) were girls were giving out that Jade wasn't put through to the finals, and all the lads honestly pointed out that none of them would sleep with her because she was fat, therefore she HAD to go at that stage. Nothing to do with talent: just looks and weight.

Like it or not, Jesy's weight wouldn't be an issue or a sob story if we, the public, hadn't made it an issue. More fools us.

It will be interesting to see the voting figures when released, and the change when that sob story came out. When they were called rhythmixx I don't remember any huge support for them, that sob story did seem like a turning point.

Shame on you Wayne Kerr!”

If it shouldn't be discussed, why was it made the main part of their VT and the basis of their 'persona'? (All of which is on the actual show, not on here)

And anyway, no one in this thread has talked about her weight, just the fact that they're using the discussion as a way of hiding their weaknesses.

Sure will be, I wanna be sure if LM were in the top 3 every week since their E.T performance.

Yes they would! Would Amelia have got to the final if she hadnt initially been kicked off in week 1? No she wouldnt. She got in by the back door

If I heard right, they came second in the vote for the first time when the weight sob story appeared and then went on to be high the next two(?) weeks. Case closed

Ha Ha, figures revealed. Looks like they were already supported by many even before the so called sob story.

Failed.

Funny story, everyone would have voted for their ET performance, that was the best of the night, what's so big surprise to see them being top 2 for that week? You should comment on how the hell Janet topped the awful Rock Week instead.

This is a really good girl band. Shame that there's so much opposition,

Good luck to them is all I can say...............they're gonna need it with every bitch in town out to discredit them.

Wow "Wayne Kerr" really has it in for these girls! Just so you know, in week 4 I watched it on Sky Plus and fastforwarded all the VTs so knew nothing about the sob story, and I voted for Little Mix because I was impressed by their performance of E.T. this was the first time I ever voted on the show and i've been watching since the year Alexandra won. I also voted for them after 'Don't Let Go', 'If I Were a Boy' and 'Silent Night' because they were the best performances of each night and I would've hated for them to leave after gelling so well as a group in such a short time and showing how well they worked together. Wanekerr, why can't you just accept that they are good? You seem so bitter towards them

Apparently he doesn't like any girl not named "Misha".

Anyways, I thought they were worthy winners and having a girl group win will be good for the show, plus I think they'll do well with SyCo so I can't really complain.

Correct. All four girls can sing, and it was with foresight that Tulisa put them together.
Tulisa was by far the best mentor this year, as she discovered what will be the next big girl band.

Because it plain nasty. The government and school are always going on about cyber bullying. Maybe they wanted to show that bitchy comments on the internet actually do upset people so you shouldn't do it.

The X-Factor always have sob stories but this one was featured one week, its not a massive deal unlike that guy with his dead wife. Its not worse than Misha's sob story.

When I voted Little Mix Jesy's story didn't come to mind. How talented they are did. What swung it for me is that they really grew in the competition. When they sang En Vogue it showed that they were potentially great.

I wouldn't describe Jesy as 'tubby' in fact I didn't notice any difference between her and the others until the whole crying over internet comments thing came out. I even wonder if they are styling her to look as awful as possible with the awful panda eye make up and unflattering clothes. I remember her as looking pretty nice when she first auditioned.

They have gotten this far IMHO because:-
The can all sing and dance
They are versatile
They have the likeability factor
They are humble
They take on board constructive criticism
They have a genuine chemistry friendship
Out of all the acts they have grown the most and benefited the most from the xfactor”

Possibly one of the best descriptions of why Little Mix are successful. Well said.
As to the "likeability factor" [something which the judges and, in the past, Simon, have picked up on], in my opinion, a section of the public identify with Little Mix (including the supposed "weight issue")

I love it how Jesy looks too ashamed to call out the bands new name (and doesn't) when the other three do. Her look says it all - 'what a shit name!'

If this is a serious question, then it deserves a serious answer.
Jesy was upset at the taunts on the internet. The coverage was brief and to the point. Neither Jesy, nor the other members of Little Mix, capitalised on this. The girls began to move up the rating after their performance of ET - totally unrelated to any "sob" story.
As to the "weight issue", didn`t one the contestants (sorry cannot remember her name) play on the fact that she was overweight - but it didn`t do her any favours. As for Misha B, who is a larger build than Jesy, she, admittedly, did not play on her size, but was renown for the amount of time spent with stylists to project an image. She tried the "sob" story and it didn`t work. She was only saved from eviction by the judges.
Little Mix won on talent. Yes, that seems to be something which some posters find hard to accept. Please give the public some degree of common sense, they would not be fooled into spending money on act purely as a "sympathy vote".

I don't see Jesy as overweight but she does have a funny shaped head, not helped by the woolly hats she likes. Maybe this is why she looks rounder than she actually is? Misha is a proper tubster though and to be honest not especially attractive either. No wonder she felt insecure and had to get bitchy with the girls backstage. All for naught though, ha!

If you really believe that was the case then Misha should have run away with the competition as she was a bloater compared to any of LM!

Yes. It wasn't even a story.

Tubby? TUBBY? Do you have any friends who are a size 10 or over? If you're one of Wayne Kerr's friends and reading this, I'd start thinking about what he says behind your back. Seriously - that's ridiculous!

I don't think she looked ashamed, I think she was just not in the mood. Maybe some people still think it's a stupid name, but "Little Mix" has grown onto many others already. I personally think Little Mix is a better name than Rhythmix, and it suits their image more.

When I was watching the show I was thinking that Jesy wasn't even the biggest person on the show, Misha and Craig (Sami too) were bigger than her. They didn't get the level of weight rated comments as Jesy did. But also she got comments about looking like a "sloth" and a "furby", so she got nasty comments about her looks in general not just her weight. Some of the comments were really cruel - she can't really help her face even if she could lose weight.
