256MB RAM enough for starter tablet?

is 256mb RAM enough for basic web browsing and flash? im still looking for a starter tablet, cant afford huge outlay..feedback appreciated
would just want it for general web browsing and flash games

That's pretty low. Flash will probably need more than that to run smoothly.

I got the Ainol NOVO 7 Advanced from china for £92

it have 512MB ram & 8GB of flash memory, its great for web browsing and flash games play fine.

Some phones have less RAM and they have more overhead.
No doubt Opera Mini does not suffer though multi tabs on other web browsers may struggle.

I imagine most flash games will struggle anyway. Its flash video or info boards that will run if the GPU happens to be better than the one on the iPad 1.

There is no constant radio running in the background like a phone so 256mb is fine as long as you use the task manager a lot to close apps but iPlayer etc might stutter. What tablet are you considering? We might be able to tell you about it's performance...

A smaller tablet with have slightly better performance than it's 10.1in variant for example. That's why Tegra 2 phones are faster than Tegra 2 Tablets. There's less pixels (screen resolution) to process.
