After her stunning performance of the dark Nine Inch Nails song 'Hurt' Leona has already reached no .4 on the iTunes chart!

Thoroughly deserved in my opinion as her vocals last night were absolutely on point! Once again her performance has attracted a lot of criticism but she obviously still has a lot of fans in the UK.

I like the song but I don't think any could have topped Johnny Cash's cover, I much preferred her more dancey stuff a la Collide & Glassheart.

Good for her. Hopefully Syco will take note. Dance- pop is not for Leona, sure have some uptempos on her album, but I think at the end of the day the public want her singing good quality ballads.

It's fantastic. Clearly a lot of people liked the performance despite what certain people might say. It's a beautiful song.

Nothing will ever beat Johnny's version though, raw emotion. But Leona's is amazing in a different way.

If it's that thing she whispered all the way through on X-Factor the other day then I absolutely hated it....

I'm happy she's in the Top 5. Loved the performance and I'm happy she's doing something to keep her on the scene whilst she finishes the album. Great cover of 'Hurt' imo, and Iris and Colorblind are also fantastic.

Didn't she 'finish the album' months ago?

Not heard the studio version, but don't understand the fuss judging by the performance.

You couldn't hear what she was singing for about half the song, it was too low for her and because it wasn't clear the "haunting" melody came across as a few bum notes amongst the grumbling.

It only shone when she started belting, which I guess sums her up. Hard to give a shit until she's singing some nice big notes with a key change thrown in for good measure.

Another cover, as well. She's in Steps territory here.

We rarely agree but I agree with every word. Leona has never been good at the bottom end, she tends to sound almost inaudible. Her high notes are amazing, though. But good luck to her, I'm sure there are many many artists not as talented or as nice as her in the industry.

PS apologies for last night - I was a little inebriated

But there are degrees of inebriation and mine last night was a First Class (Dis) Honours.

I can only image what DS would be like in a bar, when we're all a touch inebriated. The Adele/Taylor/Gaga stan clashes would be priceless. Certain individuals in particular.

But yeah, her lower register isn't great. I think if you're going to belt your face off, you do need to off-set that with a rich and in control deep "quiet voice" so it isn't just all-or-nothing.

I started this morning, dahling, and I think everyone else here should do the same.

There's nothing like some 80% in the morning.

Hurt is down to 4, only selling 64 % opf Coldplay's paradise!

i don't really like the song, don;t get me wrong, i loved her previous songs but releasing a bunch of covers to gain some sales is just not done for me

My thoughts as well. She has amazing colour / texture in mid and upper range but too painful when she try for low notes. Her nerves made it worse and shakey

Even studio version has this problem, bottom end sounds very boomy as I think they tried to eq the sound

Could Leona get a number 1 this week? i mean the only competition is Coldplay with 'Paradise' and its only flying high on I-Tunes because its 59p and i think Cee-Lo Green's 'Anyway' is out today aswell? then theres Olly, Rihanna, X-Factor..

Will be interesting chart battle i think
