The Christmas number one
Athough there are a few potential candidates for the number one spot, I believe the one that truly deserves that accolade is the army choir created by Gareth Malone. From its beginning, as a collection of fairly isolated and disparate ladies, most so inhibited they could not be coaxed to sing even a few notes to audition, to a perfectly moulded, exquisite sounding women's choir, with a beautifully melodic tune specially written for them, with lyrics taken from the private, heartfelt extracts of letters to and from their soldier husbands and partners serving in Afghanistan. I've got no connection with the choir or any one involved with it, I'm just someone who was so immensely moved by the whole story of the choirs' formation, the story of an ugly duckling transforming into a beautiful swan, that I had to tell others on DS. I just hope the music loving British public get to hear it and buy the disc in their millions.

Oh FFS not another Christmas number one thread!
Soon there will be more threads on this subject than ones on Lady Gaga, and that is saying something! |
