Reading WIPED at the moment: the book confirms that this was the response from Iran, but also points out that this is a pretty standard form of correspondence in Iran, just as "Yours sincerely" is the West.

It still makes me chuckle to read it, though.
Hi Chuff

Wondered if you'd ever seen this website before - some interesting stuff about Jackie Hill.

This thread started over 5 years ago to announce the find of two 60's episodes. I can't confirm that two more have just been found, but there's discussion on other forums of this possibility, for more go here:

Oh dear! This shameless exercise in thread necromancy is sure to raise people's hopes when they see the thread title and think it refers to new discoveries.

Very misleading, given how little evidence we have available.

For whatever reason, they are like dogs with a mechanical rabbit.

ANY mention, no matter how tenuous or just patently ridiculous.

It's like the Omni-windup. One rumour led to another and another, with eventually more episodes returning than were actually missing at the time.

Then, if that wasn't enough, people still complain that 'Only a few episodes' returned. Like Doctor Who fans have to wrest defeat from the jaws of victory at every opportunity. There was never any proof that the omni-rumour was anything more than yet another, silly, rediculous missing episode wind-up. The fact that we got most of Web of Fear, which was one of the more sought-after stories of the era back, suddenly became a downer because we didn't get everything promised by the omni-rumour.

This even extended to the guy who found the episodes. Instead of thanking him for trudging around dangerous third-world countries looking for old TV, he's now a target of conspiracy theorists. It's completely insane.

It's funny- the media is full of stories about fake news etc at the moment as if its a new phenomenon. Pfft. DW fans have been playing fast and loose with the concept of 'news' and 'scoops' and 'exclusives' for years now. I find it amazing that anyone but the most credulous of individuals really buys into any of this nonsense these days. It's a few attention seeking cranks with about 7 subscribers on Youtube who are playing at being 'reporters'. All very cringe inducing really.

The legitimacy of this rumour is as about as likely as pigs learning to fly, but it'd be pretty damn amazing if these two lost episodes happened to be the missing two from The Crusade.

Typical if it would be a random episode of the savages or the smugglers. Tenth planet part 4 or any episode of daleks master plan would be top of my wish list of found orphaned Hartnell episodes.

There appears to have been increased chatter about The Exploding Planet (Galaxy Four part 4) lately, but as ever it's just internet bullshine till it's not.
