Amelia was given the death slot with an atrocious song. The liness opened 40 minutes before she performed. The lines closed 10 minutes after her fantastic duet.

The results show that arriving late in the competition Amelia did not have an established fan base but could win over the swing vote with an outstanding performance (as she did twice to win two rounds). However in the final she was stiched up with the last slot, leaving the swing voters very little time to vote. Anyone who wanted to hear both performances to decide only really had 10 minutes to vote. If the vote had gone over the the next day the result could have been very different.

On that I agree, but for me the four should never have been out like that, it should have been all of them from the start with a double elimination twice in the show, which as Frankie went would not have been necessary. Leaving 4 for the final, think I am right but my maths is crap.

I have to agree with you on this, I thought at the time, hold on anyone voting for her is going to have a lot less time to make up their minds and do so. I also think people felt it unfair she came back, as I said above it should never have happened in week one, it was disgraceful and probably why the show went down hill from that moment for me.

Amelia was utterly robbed of the winner's place. It was blatantly obvious that she easily had the better voice on the night. She even easily matched Kelly Rowland's singing ability. She couldn't have done anymore if she'd tried. I felt really sorry for her.

Kelly Rowland has a terrible voice

Amelia wasnt robbed, talk about a pathetic thread- she was allowed come back and got to the final, and will get to g on the tour so all in all she did pretty well despite her limitations

What as opposed to ReadyMix caterwauling through it, frankly I thought even Marcus was better which is not saying much:sleep:

She performed last - the Pimp Slot. The lines opened early as they always do on these shows. It's not as if it was a new thing that was done to put Amelia at a disadvantage. Her duet was poor - the weakest of the three, IMO.

No they don't. That's why the person who performs last is said to usually have the 'pimp slot', because they are fresh in the public's mind just before the lines open. In the final the lines opened right at the start before Marcus' performance, giving him a massive advantage. As usual X Factor sacrifices fairplay for more money.

Well, I've seen a number of instances of the lines being opened early on in a final - and more often than not the person performing last has won. Amelia was brought back into the competition after a five week absence and had three pimp slots in four weeks - yet people are moaning about her being shafted.

At the end of the day, Amelia didn't perform well enough on the night to attract enough floating voters. She just wasn't that good. I expected her to do an amazing job of the Christina Aguilera duet, but there was no sassyness or spirit in her performance. Just a 17 year old girl doing a second rate Christina impression. The duet was poor. Amelia shouted her way through the song, and no thought seemed to have gone into finding a song that was suitable for both voices. Amelia goes through the motions, but that's it.

Amelia is really talented and it's a shame she didn't make it through to the final two. I think the song choice of "Ain't No Other Man" was a huge mistake. Her voice is very similar to Christina Aguilera's, her style is similar and singing this song reduced her to a Christina tribute act rather than the artist she is. She should have steered clear of that and chosen a different song which showed her own style.

I agree. And far from being shafted, I think she's possibly the luckiest contestant ever.

She was shafted by the twist in week 1 along with 3 other contestants, although arguably it was worse for her since she obviously had a following at the time and would have done well in the early stages.

She was then arguably very lucky to be brought back to help revalitize a show in decline, but now without an obvious fan base.

But then she did better than they expected, topping the poll twice and it would have been embarrassing to let her win, (it didnt fit the script of the new spice girls) so she they gave her the death slot in the first night of the final and a poor song choice. End of

I don't get this. Why was it worse for her? All four contestants who were booted off were shafted. If anything, it was worse for James because, whilst Amelia was the weakest of the girls on the night, James wasn't the weakest of the boys, yet he was booted out over the one who was.

I think the voting on Saturday should have stayed open until about 7.35 on Sunday. People did not have long after Amelia's duet with Kelly to vote for her, and not as long as people impressed by Little Mix and Marcus's duets.

This way we would find out first thing on the actual final on Sunday who the top 2 were, and about 100 minutes to enjoy and reflect on their performances.

I think TPTB concluded that an Amelia win after she was kicked out on week 1 would be just too embarassing for them.

I don't think Amelia was ever going to be allowed to win anyway. I think deep down, they knew that if she won it'd have made a mockery of the show. I think the most she ever was going to be allowed to achieve after the return was a place in the final, but once she got there, they were never going to let her do any more. (Hence the dreadfulness of not even appearing on screen until 45 minutes after the lines opened)

Simple really, of the four week 1 casualties, she was the one who got voted back on by a huge majority. So she obvously had the most support by some margin of all these acts.
