Aliona very cleverly chose music that would match Harry's face for the VW saving him the worry of which face to pull.
Yeah, the overall positioning was about right for me and so who cares about the details.
The judging panel worked well last night I thought. Nice atmosphere, relaxed etc.
Nevertheless I don't buy into the theory, constantly expressed on this forum, that because someone rarely gives 10s it makes their judgement correct. I could sit on a judging panel and give 2s and 3s to everyone and then award a 10 to Nancy Del Olio or Lulu but it wouldn't them good dancers.

I think Harry was lucky with his Charleston score, it wasn't even the best of this series yet the judges marked it as thus. With the V.Waltz he was pointed out the flaw in the week and it wasn't corrected.
No dance on Strictly will ever be flawless there will be some hesitations, wardrobe issues, wrong placements now and then. If the mistakes are present throughout the dance like head placement, heels when a toe etc then yes that will be critiqued as they are the basics. Especially if the couple have got it correct on other weeks.

Exactly!
We can't always see what the judges can see remember. Craig is the only judge who you can trust to tell it as it is (sometimes too unkindly IMO)

Did you listen to the song he was dancing to?
Why would he look cheerful whilst dancing to a bitter sweet so g about being scared to let yourself go and be happy because your heart has been so badly broken in the past?
He got it absolutely spot on and captured the feel of the music and meaning of the song perfectly. It was beautiful

I loved Chelsee's Paso and I love Craig.

I came on this thread expecting to see a backlash because Jason and Kristina had got 10 from Craig... not Chelsee.
To my mind Kristina probably deserved 40 (10 from Craig) for having to put up with Jason Leching and doing that monstrous Hanibal sniffing thing at the beginning.... but Jason no way... I cant believe how few actual Argentine Tango steps he did to get that....

Oh I was going to post in a similar vein that I had seen a review where Chelsee apparent hesitation was correct in the flamenco/paso style that she danced. It is one not usually seen or marked well on SCD.
She was supposed to be slightly behind Pasha in order for him to take the lead
If Craig knew the style she was dancing required the slight hesitation then he was absolutely correct to give it a 10

Good point- I hadn't thought of that. I just assumed the song was chosen because it was so beautiful and had the tempo for a slow VW, but the story also does suit Harry. He smiled at the start and there's a very subtle change in his expression during the pauses. Smiling through most of the song would have detracted from the feel of the song.

I agree. BUT, I don't really want Len to go. I know he can be awful sometimes, when he's got his walnuts in a pickle. However his good times outweigh the pickle. Alesha used to be ghastly but I have to say I think this has been a far better series for her. So I don't really want her to go either. Bruno is totally crazy, but he can also be very funny and entertaining. So I don't really want him to go. Craig can't possible go as he's marvellous. SO BEST ALL STAY THEN !!

I too thought she was behind Pasha on the turn, and though I was thrilled she got 40, I did think she had made a rather big mistake.
Interesting to hear that this was intentional.

Which dance are you talking about and can you name all these flaws?
I think it's more a case of creative marking by the judges to ensure the right people(or their favourites) got through to the final. They know Harry's got the public vote, and Chelsee will pick up the down market/former X-factor viewers or common northern types.
