I've always thought that being partnered with Mr Jordan is the kiss of death for any celebrity and it's a real testament to the popularity of Pamela (and Alex) that they got as far as they did because I can't imagine many people pick up the phone to vote for James. If he is ever lucky enough to be partnered with a real contender (like an Alesha Dixon or a Jill Halfpenny) then I don't think his pigheadedness would stand in the way of them winning (though they would have far less chance than if they were partnered by Pasha or Artem or practically anybody else.)

His personality just grates, it really is all about him, he's one of those people that looks bored if the conversation's not revolving around him. His attempts to upstage people who are receiving more attention are embarrassing and like a spoilt child he reverts to sulks and tantrums when things don't go his way .. added to that is the fact that imo his choreography is just not memorable.

I don't personally believe he is all that popular behind the scenes.

I don't think there's evidence one way or another really.

Gabby Logan, Zoe Lucker and (arguably) Cherie Lunghi went out earlier than they should have done but there were (again arguably) factors other than James that could explain that.

Pamela reached the final but she was hardly ever in a dangerous position, particularly towards the end of the series where this would have mattered more. I disagree with those saying that Alex wouldn't have got as far with anyone else. I think she garnered votes in her own right; she reached exactly the same stage as Christine Bleakley which says a lot to me. James suited her to the extent that his "safe" choreography showed what she could do whilst disguising (as far as he could) what she couldn't and maybe the likes of Artem or Pasha, both of whom seem to like to push their celebs, wouldn't have been that good a match but I reckon Brendan or Robin would have been capable of doing as well.

So, James has got two of his partners as far or possibly further than they could have been expected to go while three of them have departed sooner than they should. And in all cases, one can voice an argument for the result having little or nothing to do with James. Hmm... that was time well spent tabitha .

Absolutely agree. James was the star. Alex was nice but nice doesn't cut it.

I totally agree with mossy.

James was a different person than the other years.

James has a fantastic relationship with Alex. She was the first women which he "understood" .

They had a lot of laughs and a terrible good time. And Alex did wonderful.!

It's really very simple. His competitiveness outdances his brain. When they said on the telly the brain had the consistency of wallpaper paste, this was not meant to reflect its internal life too. No doubt the producer has also been telling him to ham up his role, but he doesn't have the nous of Anton or Vincent at it.
