Oasis are one of the best bands ever?
Agreed?
Noel is better than Liam... agreed? Any Oasis facts would be great! |

I don't think they are, although I have everything they released.
High Flying Birds & Beady Eye prove that the sum is greater than the parts. But if the latter were to drop their crap songs and play Noel's... |

If this was 1997 I'd say yes. Unfortunately all their albums since Be Here Now have been pretty poor.

They released a couple of great albums back in the day, but now - meh!
In terms of best bands ever - they're not even in my top 50. |

Had the most potential to be up there as one of the best...
Rock n roll star, Live Forever, Supersonic, Cigs & Alc, Slide away, Roll with it, Wonderwall, Don't look back in anger, Morning Glory, Champagne supernova and Cast no shadow were all great songs off Definitely Maybe and What's The Story Morning Glory. No other band produced a better debut album and they really did set the bar high, Be Here Now was a good album also... sadly, SOTSOG was a let down. Noel even said himself... it got to a point where there was a band sat in the studio just banging out songs without a care in the world. All fell apart after 2000... songs being produced wasn't as good and Liams voice started to age. His vocals seem to be getting better again recently but I can't see Oasis releasing another album. I suppose the drug abuse during 95-97 didn't do them any favours either... people often judge Oasis by the comments they made and not by the music they produced. |

If Oasis did crack america back in the 90's would british rock music still be stronger than it is now.

Good band with some great songs, but not one of the best. I personally don't feel any kind of warmth towards the Gallagher brothers, they're far too arrogant.

Yes definitely
Can put Oasis' back catalogue of songs against any other band. |

On the other hand, you could flip it and ask, does it really matter if a band "cracks" America or not? Everybody goes on about success in the US like its the be-all-end-all, but is it? Would Oasis have made better records than the turgid Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants had they maintained the success in the US Charts that Wonderwall and (What's The Story) Morning Glory achieved? Somehow I doubt it. David Hasslehoff is (or was) a massive recording artist in Germany, if he'd have had similar success in his homeland, would that have suddenly seen him stop making shit wuss-rock ballads and start churning out some decent material? I think not! |

People always ask that but the fact is Oasis did pretty well over there. Three Top 10 albums, four Top 40 singles, sell-out tours... yet everyone always says Oasis flopped in America. Maybe compared to the Beatles and the Stones they did, but there's plenty of UK artists going right now who would kill for the kind of results Oasis got over there.

Good band for a few years but didn't sustain the quality long enough or have enough ideas of their own to be considered one of the best ever in my opinion. I'm not sure that really matters anyway as they made a big impact with songs that will be fondly remembered and played for years to come.

A few good songs, but generally arogant tw*ts and one of them has an annoying nasal voice.

I think they are the most overated band in british history.
They have about 3 good songs and the rest all sound the exact same. It doesn't help that L.Galagher is an absolute bellend. |

I think Oasis are vastly overrated in the UK due to their first two albums. 'Definitely Maybe' and 'Morning Glory' are both great, but aside from the odd exception, everything that followed ranged from mediocre to downright awful. They should have split up long before they did in my opinion. 'The Masterplan' is pretty good too actually for a B-sides compilation, no idea why there was such an enormous drop in quality from then on.

Dodgy Beatles tribute band the best ever. Not in a million years. Mind you, I have never been a Beatles fan anyway.
Heard Oasis just before they broke big and couldn't stand them then, time did not improve my opinion. |
