It's a big fat juicy deal. I can't say I know where the BBC staff stay or how much they spend, but there are an awful lot of them.
That's before you take the audience into consideration.
All of them have to sleep somewhere and eat while they;re here, so it brings in money that wouldn't be coming in the weekend before Christmas. In a town whose only industry is tourism, that's pretty important.
