I am a noobie and hope that this is posted in the right place. If not then tell me where to place it. Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can give.
Here is my problem, I have a panasonic dmr bs850 which since I have had it has worked well. However, with the arrival of the Channel 5 family of channels on Astra 1n last week the panny has not been able to pick them up.
I have scanned and rescanned several times and also checked the signal condition in the menu. This told me that despite appearing in the epg the machine does not get a signal lock for Astra 1n. This is all the more puzzling as the Humax HD box in the other room did get the channels once they had been scanned in.
Can anyone suggest any other solutions to help me to get these channels that everyone else is currently able to view?

Just a thought. I updated my Free-To-Air box I use for my caravan at the weekend, and, at 1st glance, they didn't seem to be listed.
A bit of delving though showed them up as encrypted channels, even though they are not.
They seem to have the encryption flag set still even though they are now Free To Air.
Is there some way you can check as whether the DMR 850 has a similar problem?
Maybe you need to initially tune them in Non Freesat mode.

Thanks for your thoughts on trying to tune them in. Sorry for the delay in the reply as I had work related admin to deal with until now.
I had tried to tune them in on non freesat mode and the channels were there but listed as encrypted until they started broadcasting in the clear last week. The clue seems to lie in the fact that the signal condition menu tells me that that the box is unable to lock onto the signal broadcast by that particular satellite.
Is the simple solution to re-align the dish, despite the fact the Humax Foxsat HD box does receive the channels? I had toyed with idea of restoring the box to shipping condition as seem to remember doing that earlier in the year in order to get the BBC HD channels. Would that help to get the missing channels?

Assuming your Humax that receives them OK is on the same dish I would guess that is your only option.

Thanks Automan for the advice. It might turn out to be my only option. However, I have been checking further and it seems that the box is picking up Astra 1n because I can get Channel 4 HD ( I looked on King of Sat to check the frequency and satellite and to confirm the suspicion that the only channels it can't lock onto are the channel 5 ones).
When I have looked at any of these channels it reads as no.signal. The signal condition menu tells me that the network ID is 003B and the transport stream ID is 0809 for all the missing channels.
Could this be the problem because it seems to me that each channel should have its own transport stream ID in order to be viewed properly? If this is a mistaken view then hopefully can put me right. I would be also be interested to see if any other panasonic dmr bs 850 owners have had similar problems.
