even though her music is the complete opposite of what top 40 radio is trending. she brings soul sounds to her music. i think adele knows the definition of what it means to be a singer and she has such an incredible voice. what do you think?

Well TBH yes for instance even her first album has sold a million more than it did when it first came out i expected her to do well because there were people myself included waiting for and being generally excited by a new album but to the extent it has done i dont think anyone could have anticipated or imagined it its simply been incredible due to a combination of gre singles the brits performance and a genuine happiness to have something other than rihanna or gaga rule the airwaves with a voice and album thats able to translate both genres and generations.

Yes, absolutely. The album really caught fire, as did the singles, and it's become a phenomenon this year.
There was hype around it being built up at the start of the year, and I thought she'd be successful, but 13 million and a massive chart run? No way. |

adele's year was amazing in 2011 with chart smashers like rolling in the deep and someone like you.
all this year it was suppost to be about lady gaga and her born this way album. gaga even clamied it to be the album of the decade and she was weigh off. i thought born this way was good but not good enough to be the album of the decade. its clear that adele's 21 can probably be the album of the decade. even though its too early too tell as where almost coming down to an end to 2011 and 2010 has already been completed which means nearly 2 years has been done of the 2010's. |

Yes, I knew 21 would be a success and would be topping the charts worldwide but I didn't think it'd break records
![]() Well done to her anyway

As soon as I saw her singing SLY* on Jools in November 2010 I thought that if the rest of the album matched that sort of quality she'd do great but I really don't think anyone saw this amount of success coming. Albums just don't sell like this in the modern era.
* I know SLY has been played to death now and maybe its power has been dissipated somewhat but anyone seeing that performance for the first time on Jools over a year ago now couldn't fail to be impressed. |

The whole "album of the decade" schtick was said once, and the actual quote was; "I promise to give you the greatest album of this decade, just for you." to her fans on tour. Not quite the same. People have really taken that and run with it. |
