I've been trying to set this up for 2 days now, I can get all the files up on XBMC but they won't play, XBMC won't even play videos that are currently on my PC.

I'm using Windows XP by the way.

You playing the right file? The files playable are usually at the bottom and try downloading something like VLC to play them.

If you've managed to share the two data files that go along with each video file (same file name, different file extension), they won't play. If you've shared the data files but not the video files, then you'll be stuck until you fix this.

However, if xbmc won't even play compatible local media files, it might be some kind of driver issue. In xmbc, try browsing to an mp3 file from the audio section, and check that plays. Then try browsing to a DVD VOB (not an encrypted one) from the video section, and check that plays.

Cheers,
David.

I've sorted it, just had to totally uninstall XBMC and reinstall it, not sure what happened with the first install but it works now, great piece of software!

Just wish it would stream HD content.

It will if you:
1) record it manually in non-Freesat mode (reboot after switching modes)
2) have a decent network connection
3) have a fast PC with appropriate codecs

My PC isn't quite fast enough, but I can get a stuttery result.

I can't be bothered with non-Freesat mode though. If it can't be series linked, it doesn't get recorded!

If I need to export it as well as watch it, I try to record the HD and SD versions. (though that can confuse me and the box).

Cheers,
David.
