It would be interesting to know the reason why certain professionals were dropped from the programme - and on whose say-so. I have my suspicions, but I suspect we'll never find out.

I doubt they will ever tell us.

I think Lillia and the others were axed to make way for a 'new breed' of dancers namely and mainly the Russians.

Dancing styles on SCD have changed. I don't know if it was a good or bad decision. What does everyone else think?

Lillia was getting rather 'chunky' and Darren's rug was distracting the celebs.

But Lilia is Russian.

I'd actually like to see Lilia back as a judge - out of all of those floated as possible judges, I think she has the most credibility - she doesn't appear to favour the men more, she has won it and she has been a judge elsewhere on the Turkish version

I know but she wasn't what I would call this new breed of dancer and I don't mean just the Russians.

Lillia danced and choreographed like her peers on SCD. People are noticing differences in dance/choreography style with the older pros like Anton, Erin, James, Ola and Brendan compared to the newer dancers. Include some of the other oldies; Ian, Matt, Karen & Camilla and you have even more of the old stylers.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong as I miss the ex-pros but I like the new dancers too. Most of the ex pros were winners and are responsible for some SCD's most iconic dances. That's why I will always remember their time on SCD.

Here's hoping that the BBC do an iconic SCD dance compilation show sometime.

I love some of the new pros for breathing new life into SCD choreography, like Artem and Pasha, but others have had far less noticeable impact in this respect for me.

Katya's routines rarely stand out for me, Natalie's latin routines can be a bit poor at times, Aliona has her moments which often seem more mad than inspired.

In terms of the past pros, Lilia was one of my favourites for choreographing to her celebs abilities, and could really pull out some incredibly creative showstoppers if she had anyone with half a degree of talent, Goughie in point. Also remember the samba she put together to Walking in the Air for Aled Jones in the Christmas Special!

I wouldn't object except that she was a bit catty about Robin last series implying he was out of time. It does seem unfair that the Turks get her to judge and we get Alesha - I know whose opinion I'm more interested in.

Me too. I'd like Lillia to replace Alesha who doesn't really add much and gives out 10s for dances that are flawed. Lillia knows more about dancing in her little finger than Alesha. Look at Dancing on Ice. They are replacing Emma Bunton with another skater - former world champion Katerina Witt. Better balance. I did feel sorry for Robin Cousins being the only skater on the judging panel of a skating show.

I have to agree with a previous poster about Katya too. I would like to see her replaced. I really have loved Christina and Artem's choreography this year (Artem's swan lake and paso outstanding).

I do think though that Strictly should get more British dancers - the only British dancers now are Anton, Erin and Robin.

Erin's actually from New Zealand hun. Flavia's English though, I think, of Italian descent.

Much as I loved Katarina Witt in her day, she's another Figure Skater, so that makes 2 with Robin on the Panel. Why didn't they hire Sinead Kerr, an icedancer now retired from competitive icedancing, and who will be in the UK doing a sports mentoring show for the BBC, and who expressly said she'd be interested in being a Judge on DOI a few months ago?

Hear, hear! I think the choreography was really better a few years ago: more simple, less chaotic, and therefore more effective. Lilia was also one of my favourite choreographers and definitely better at doing less so her partner doesn't seem to just stand there, than people like Aliona.

James? Flavia? And Erin isn't British - she doesn't even sound British.

If the BBC wanted an ex pro dancer on the judging panel, there'd be one there right now. They chose to have an ex celeb winner, have kept her on for 3 series and have since given her more TV work to do. She's unlikely to be going anywhere in a hurry.

Alesha might be a goodhost of a children's TV-show - she's naturally vivacious- but she's just a dead weight as Strictly Judge.
How many times do I have to say- do NOT use Karen as a judge. She's too easily led by her paymasters the BBC and shes talks in dreadful hyperbole.
And Lilia's value lies in dancing, not judging.
