I think fairy cakes is the common term in the UK but I know them as cup cakes as well.

Wow that's impressive

. Unlike Alex, I knew some basic things as a teenager like boiling an egg etc, and I enjoyed baking biscuits and cakes with my mum, but didn't really learn how to cook meals properly until I went to university so I was around Alex's age was when I took my first tentative steps into the culinary world

I think it is also very worrying that Alex didn't know how to make a bed when she went into the house - these youngsters these days lead such pampered lives
