Do you think these pictures will gain Chelsee more voters on Saturday?

I don't think people will be reading papers from the 1st December personally

You see this is why I shouldn't post. They weren't third? I remember it Mark, Matt, Emma, and Chris, Ricky, Ali. Oh, well ignore me.
Yes, they did finish third. I must admit, I'm the same and run the semi-finals into the finals - especially if it were a 2 person final show.

A podium place = in the final to me

I think people will be more likely to read them than magazines from May 2007 personally

Whether 3 celebs were whittled down to one winner over one Saturday or two is probably immaterial. The point made was that it was not safe to be one woman among two men -- not only out but out first (Zoe, Emma, Ali), unless you are Alesha with 30 marks in hand and thus fire-proof. Even in a woman/woman/man configuration a woman went out first (Kara/Pamela/Matt). No, it's not safe to be a woman on Strictly, unless you are Kara or Alesha or Jill.

Chelsee is facing the same configuration, but she has the protection of Pasha who as current joint leader in the Most Popular Pro poll is a big vote-getter in his own right.
Alesha managed just fine with another popular professional So with any luck will Chelsee. I can remember all the Gethin love that year and the romance of Flavia & Matt DA. Strong story lines to be up against.

Jethryk and CarolUK - both spot on. I am a non ovary voter and tend to vote for those who convey to me the love of what they are doing best.

So far I have voted 50/50 male/female (only started really watching in the Alesha year).
Like many others at the start of the series I thought Chelsee was a bit of a chav and had never heard of her as I am not a Waterloo Road watcher. However, she started dancing and has improved and grown each week. Her ditzy personality comes through along with her insecurities and she seems to have a properly close pupil/teacher relationship with Pasha. I get a tingly feeling watching them dance, escaping into the music and dance along with them.

Harry on the other hand has always seemed "nice" and I was cross Aliona was not letting him dance more steps. Now even though his content is greater most of it is in "in hold" dances & he still seems very bland to me. So nothing to inspire or motivate me to vote. Almost a male version of Ali or Rachel (just the way I see him, so only a personal opinion).

The only other person I voted for this year was Audley.
I said this on another thread somewhere too....if Harry was female he would have been called dull and boring and all the things that Rachel got in her year.....he is the male version of Rachel....even down to the being fantastic at ballroom and a bit suspect at latin....great dancers but no personality.

Probably where I picked the idea up. No matter what ones opinion of Jason he at least inspires proper Vegemite reactions.

I'm woman and i prefer Chelsee. Because she enjoys the dances and that makes me to enjoy her dances. Harry is a good looking guy (i don't fancy him), technically he may be correct, but he doesn't have any oomph. I find him boring and dull. I'm sure he is a nice guy. But for me i never got the feeling for dance from him and never watched his dances second time.

Harrybot? Was he like this from week 1?

Kristina gives Jason carte blanche to make funny looks and talk Meaning of Life.
If Harry steps out of line, "Don't fight me" Aliona would hit him on the head.

I think he is Harrybot from week 1 He has two expressions one for ballroom and one for latin and there isnt a lot of difference between them in my view. Even in the picture in Attitude he has got the same expression.

He missed his vocation then. He should be a poker player, can't tell if he holds a pair of deuces or four aces.

I think Matt DA became less popular in the final as Gethin fans felt that he had deprived Gethin of a place in the final.
His showdance was also disappointing IMO compared with Alesha's and I still can't forget that horrible vest he wore which did no favours for his slight physique.

Didn't Ricky's popularity suffer after his arrest for allegedly driving into a photographer a few weeks before the final?

Notice that in all three finals when there were 2 male +1 female finalists, the female finalist (Zoe, Emma and Ali) went out first.
Which doesn't bode well for Chelsee .....
There again, I don't think Gethin was nearly as good at dancing as the mass thought he was so I don't really have any sympathy for those who decided to dislike Matt just because they felt their favourite had been pipped to the final by someone else. If Gethin had been in the final I'd think Matt had been depreived, so there we are, as an audience we see things diffrently sometimes don't we with diferent contestants.

I thought people mainly disliked Ricky because he was good from day one and therefore people thought he hadn't gone on a journey. Plus, I remember people disliking Natalie saying she wanted a 10 so early on and thought she was also overly competative (due to being succesful in the Australian version).

If Chelsee follows the trend of being the first out (when there's a 2xmale 1xfemale final then she should still e proud in the knoweldege that she was as good as dancing as the two other people she was in the final with).

Bookies have no doubt latched onto the male bias in the final stages, but have missed one key factor. Chelsee is not the lone female against two males. (Chelsee + Pasha) is the warm appealing partnership placed in front of female voters.

In his first year Pasha in his own right has catapulted to the top of the DS Most Liked Pro poll, level with Artem, he of the imeccable CV. Aliona and Kristina are polling two streets behind Pasha.

Forget Pasha, imagine Chelsee is in the Final paired with super-popular Matthew Cutler. Any females who wanted to vote for a male will vote for (Chelsee + Matthew) abandoning the relatively colourless figure of Harry. This is where bookies missed the boat -- I think, they and many others have overlooked the lightning rise of Pasha.

Verdict in 7 hours .

This is a good thread I shall just dive on in....

no real comments about the earlier seasons of SCD (1 to 5), but SCD6, I'm afraid although I liked Tom, and his showdance was great, I would have preferred Rachel to win that year, she was far more consistent, and I loved her Rumba.

SCD7 a toughie, in my opinion, Chris won on his lovely personality and his Charleston , I voted for him, although I liked Ali, and thought Ricky had it in the bag (hence my vote)

SCD8, I thought Kara was good, but I didn't warm to her, I much preferred Matt Baker. I also liked Pamela and James, though James's attitude this series has been disappointing.

I am really torn as to who I would like to win this series, I think all of them have been consistently good, I suspect that all the talk of Harry having it in the bag may put some off voting for him. If it is a vote therefore for the pro dancer partners...again difficult, but I edge towards Aliona as I think she should have won with Matt last year.

I truely don't mind who wins this year though.

Jill, Alesha, Kara won. They were not just the 3 best woman celebs, they were the 3 best dancers in Strictly history. Apart from Natasha in experimental SCD1, this is what it took for a woman to win the glitterball -- an objective inference from past results.

In close man-woman confrontations like tonight it appears that DS forum poll does not accurately represent the 14-million nationwide electorate. Tonight the DS forum polls were 77-54 for Chelsee-Harry in Round 1, then 34-1 in Round 2. Outcome: Bookies 1, DS Forum 0.

Even as DS forum was voting 34-1 for Chelsee-Harry the online bookies were betting Chelsee at 20/1 and Harry as 1/10 overwheming favourite. Did they receive inside info on actual phone vote figures?
