I have a Panasonic tv to which is connected the Panasonic WiFi dongle DY-WL10. My problem is that I cannot get this to connect to my Belkin F5D9630 router.

I'm running WEP and i can coonect all other devices to the router, laptops, blackberry etc, but when I enter the WEP into the TV (and yes I've checked several times that it is correct) after a few minutes all I get is authentication failed.

The signal strength is either 4 or 5 out of 5 bars.

Any ideas?

I am tempted to say , it works for everyone else but It might be worth temporarily turning the WEP off from your router and seeing if the TV will connect then .

I've not tried with any Panasonics, but I've connected LOT'S of Sonys.

Sometimes, even though everything is correct, they just won't connect.

In every case, doing a factory reset on the TV has cured it - so it might be worth trying?.

Are you sure it's WEP? Some devices are funny connecting to routers that are encrypted using WPA/TKIP.

could your router have mac filtering enabled. a list of devices that are allowed to connect?

you've rebooted the router? and why are you using WEP?

why are you using WEP?
I know, you might and well not have encryption (if thats what you are using). But not all devices (most are) compatible with it like I said earlier.

Re-booted TV back to factory settings - no change
Re-booted router - no change
Using WEP as other devices support WEP, i.e. not all support WPA etc
When I disable security on router, router locks ups and I have to reset by power down, power up, which brings back the WEP setting, so struggling to try that option out.

finally managed to disable security on router and lo and behold can connect. However not keen on having router running without security, so try again tomorrow.

OP , so now your neighbours are getting free broadband LOL your router is quite old but from the Belkin web site it shows it supports WPA- PSK , try using 9988776655443322 as the key . Most devises should support WPA-PSK better . Might be better to change the SSID at the same time then everything can just log onto a "new" service . Hope this sorts this out for you .
